She speaks with a strong regional accent and is quick to call out anyone, particularly those who have moved from Tokyo, if she feels they are disrespecting or failing to appreciate what Nagoya has to offer. Her appearance is often described as cat-like, with short blonde hair and golden eyes, and she was born on August 8. At the start of the story, she is wary of new classmate Jin Kaito, a transfer student from Tokyo, and initially refuses to open up to him. As the series progresses, she gradually becomes more comfortable with him and, through their interactions, serves as the main vehicle for showcasing Nagoya’s local culture, customs, and quirks. Monaka’s motivations are rooted in her strong love for her hometown; she wants others to understand and respect it the way she does. Her role in the narrative is that of a proud local guide and a source of comedic tension as she reacts to Jin’s unfamiliarity with Nagoya.
