Description
Julius serves as a mentor figure in the animated film, initially appearing as a seasoned Guild Hunter investigating monster threats. He rescues a young villager, Aiden, from a Velociraptor-like monster and identifies an approaching Elder Dragon migration endangering the settlement. Despite protocol favoring evacuation, he chooses to remain and assist after the villagers resolve to defend their home.

He is the current leader of the elite Ace Hunters within the Hunter's Guild. Julius assumed leadership following a defining moment where his own mentor, "the Master," sustained severe injuries during an ambush by a Kushala Daora while hunting a Rathian, forcing the Master's retirement. Subsequent missions involved investigating a juvenile Elder Dragon identified as Gore Magala and its unique Frenzy Virus, followed by deployments to Dundorma to prepare defenses against Elder Dragon incursions.

Personality-wise, Julius exhibits intense pride, honesty, and seriousness regarding his duties and beliefs. He is blunt in communication and struggles with social interactions, rarely engaging outside necessary contexts due to difficulty expressing emotions or admitting vulnerabilities. However, he demonstrates a capacity for understanding others' feelings over time. His stern demeanor manifests as strict adherence to Guild regulations and reprimands for reckless behavior, like when Aiden fails to properly secure a trap during a Deviljho encounter.

His combat proficiency includes instantly dispatching a Velocidrome with a single strike using Dual Blades and coordinating complex hunts against formidable monsters like Deviljho and the Elder Dragon Lunastra. He wears distinctive specialized Ace Armor. During the Lunastra siege, he signals fellow Hunters for reinforcement, collaborating with allies Mae (an Insect Glaive user), Nadia (a Heavy Bowgun specialist and former partner), and the blacksmith Ravi. Significant losses occur in the battle, including Mae and Ravi, whose sacrifices enable Lunastra's repulsion.

Julius experiences subtle character development through interactions. Nadia references his past failure during the Rathian hunt to advocate for patience with Aiden's mistakes, suggesting lingering guilt over his mentor's injury. Witnessing the villagers' determination and Aiden's resourcefulness—culminating in the dam-breaking tactic that floods Lunastra—softens his initially rigid perspective, acknowledging the value of local knowledge and non-Guild resourcefulness. Following the siege, he formally recruits Aiden as an "Ace Cadet," facilitating the youth's journey to Dundorma for Guild training and setting the stage for future collaborations.
