Description
Nonna, also known as Sarah, held the position of the highest-ranking human authority within the Grace Field House system before Isabella's tenure. She commanded the Mamas overseeing all five Grace Field plantations and supervised candidates training to become Mamas or Sisters. Her role provided privileged knowledge, including the identity of every child's biological mother and their specific plantation destination.
Her path to becoming Nonna followed the initial stages required for becoming a Mama. Candidates first attained the rank of Mama before selection as Nonna, based on superior competence and experience upon the previous Nonna's death or incapacitation. Upon assuming the position, the tracking chip in her heart was deactivated, and her identification number tattoo was erased.
Years earlier, Sarah served as a Mama at one of the Grace Field plantations. During this period, she oversaw a young Isabella and Leslie. When Isabella discovered the orphanage's horrific truth and attempted to escape alone by climbing the wall, Sarah intercepted her using the radar system, signaling her descent and ending the attempt. Later, Sarah personally escorted Isabella to the gates on her shipment day, where Isabella met the then-current Nonna. Sarah eventually rose to replace that predecessor.
