Description
Camilla Minami (known as Kaede Minami in Japanese sources) is an eighth-grade student whose generally cheerful and energetic everyday demeanor contrasts with significant shyness and social awkwardness concerning romantic feelings, particularly for classmate Dylan Yuki (Setsu Yuuki). Her life transforms after acquiring a specific cocoa mug engraved with instructions; pouring hot cocoa while voicing her romantic wish for Dylan inadvertently summons Mirmo, a mischievous fairy prince from another dimension. This forces an uneasy partnership, strained by Mirmo's initial reluctance to assist and preoccupation with chocolate.

Her narrative arc centers on navigating adolescent romance amid escalating supernatural events tied to Mirmo's world. Early challenges include rivalry with classmate Azumi Hidaka, who also develops feelings for Dylan and gains her own fairy partner, Yatch. Camilla's romantic pursuits are further complicated by Kyle Matsutake (Kaoru Matsutake), a perpetually cheerful and wealthy classmate harboring persistent affection for her. Camilla evolves from passive wishing to proactive effort, gradually overcoming her shyness to directly engage Dylan, support his aspirations like becoming a novelist, and understand his interests.

Her involvement intensifies as more fairies arrive. She contends with antagonistic forces like the bumbling Warumo Gang, whose magical disruptions threaten both worlds. Critical events see Camilla undergo temporary fairy transformation to resolve Warumo Gang crises, venturing into the elemental realms of Mirmo's dimension to seek aid from deities. A major antagonist, Darkman (Tenebro), emerges later—a being born from negativity who manipulates others, including transfer student Saori. Camilla participates directly in battles against Darkman, collaborating with Mirmo and allies to develop combined magical techniques, ultimately contributing to his defeat despite a temporary severance between dimensions.

Further storylines involve assisting Tako, a robotic octopus, in gathering seven emotion-based crystals essential to save his homeland, overcoming associated challenges. Amidst external conflicts, Camilla's romantic journey culminates in Dylan reciprocating her feelings after navigating misunderstandings involving his childhood friend, Haruka. Following Mirmo's near expulsion, an accident causes his amnesia and transformation into a rabbit form; Camilla's unwavering care and dedication break the curse and restore him.

The conclusion of her core narrative sees her achieving her initial romantic goal with Dylan's confession. While the manga depicts Mirmo eventually marrying his fairy fiancée Rima, the anime adaptation focuses on Camilla's personal resolution, accepting the challenges and joys of her relationship with Dylan and demonstrating significant maturation from her initially timid self.
