TV-Series
Description
In the PriPara idol universe, Usagi functions as both mascot and manager, marked by light blue fur with red diamond patterns crossed by black 'X' marks on his ears. His appearance includes white fur around his nose and mouth, black sunglasses typically resting on his head, a red tie featuring a black 'X', a purple cotton tail, and yellow wings.
Initially managing Sophy Hojo, he leveraged her success to pursue his goal of becoming the top manager. During this period, he exhibited a judgmental and boastful personality, frequently disparaging other idols and managers while actively concealing Sophy's Fancy Mode to protect his own reputation and career ambitions. He viewed Sophy primarily as a tool for advancement until her departure to join SoLaMi♡SMILE—an event that profoundly impacted him and altered his career trajectory.
After Sophy left, Usagi became manager of the unit Dressing Pafé, consisting of Sion Todo, Dorothy West, and Reona West. Dorothy and Reona resented SoLaMi♡SMILE for replacing them with Sophy, aligning with Usagi's motivations. Though initially driven by rivalry and a desire for payback, his work with Dressing Pafé gradually fostered positive changes: he demonstrated increased dedication to the unit and moments of genuine care, signaling a departure from his earlier selfishness.
His key relationships define much of his narrative. He shares a long-standing rivalry with the bear mascot manager Kuma, with both frequently competing over whose idols are superior and occasionally attempting sabotage. Kuma is one of the few characters aware of Usagi's elaborate birth name: Will Michael Georges Sandrelli Mezza Bonjour Francois Girgil Je T'aime the Fourth. Both Usagi and Kuma also share an attraction to Neko, a cat mascot manager who runs a fortune-telling shop. Neko enjoys teasing them and sometimes exploits their affections to gain advantages for her own team.
Usagi has a younger sister, Usacha, whom he genuinely cares for despite their competitive dynamic. Usacha initially idolized him, but witnessing his flaws—particularly his susceptibility to Neko's charms—caused disappointment and a temporary fracture in their relationship. They later reconciled with outside help, reinforcing their underlying bond. Usagi's speech pattern involves adding "~usa" to sentence endings.
Over the series, Usagi evolves beyond his initial antagonistic focus on personal gain. He becomes a more cooperative figure within PriPara, shifting his management of Dressing Pafé toward shared success rather than defeating rivals. This reflects a gradual softening of his character and a growing capacity for teamwork.
