She created multiple Orbital Frames, including Idolo, Isis, and Hathor. Placing dedication to Mars's liberation above personal ties, she left her husband James Links and children Leon and Noel on Earth, believing her expertise could end Earth's oppression, though this reflected some naivety about the conflict's complexities.

During the 2167 development of the prototype Orbital Frame Idolo, she directed its testing with pilot Radium Lavans. When Radium's mental state deteriorated from Metatron exposure, she demanded removal from the project. Her knowledge of military secrets resulted in arrest by BAHRAM. An assistant, later revealed as a UNSF spy, aided her escape to extract Orbital Frame intelligence for Earth.

Presumed dead for years, Rachel was secretly held captive by BAHRAM on Mars, where she tended roses in a subterranean garden. Her children Noel and Leon, assisted by the AI Dolores and with implied help from Radium Lavans, eventually rescued her.

Following the Antilia Colony raid on the Orbital Elevator, she was revealed to be pregnant.
