Description
Miku is a supporting character introduced in the anime adaptation of Akikan! and is an anime-original character not present in the original light novel series. She is a Steel Akikan, specifically a mixed juice can, and appears as a teenage girl with very long purple hair and purple eyes. Her origins are unusual: her can was accidentally activated by a cat that put its mouth to the opening, causing the cat to become her official Owner. The cat immediately ran away, leaving Miku without a genuine bond with an owner. This abandonment shaped her initial personality and motivations. She developed a strong resentment toward both Steel and Aluminum Akikans who had proper owners, viewing them as inferior or undeserving. She began absorbing the powers of other Akikans she defeated and started calling herself the strongest Akikan. Her speech is marked by a Kansai dialect, giving her a distinct regional flavor in her dialogue.
Her main ability is a cool drink sorcery known as Rainbow Splash Mixer, a powerful offensive technique. Additionally, she possesses the ability to create copies of the Akikans she has captured, which are called Zeros. These clones serve as her minions and extend her combat capability.
Throughout the story, Miku operates as a neutral force who does not align with either the Steel or Aluminum factions in the Akikan Elect conflict. Her role is initially antagonistic, as she challenges the main characters and seeks to prove her superiority. However, her character undergoes development when Kakeru Daichi, the protagonist, gives her the name Miku after she reveals she never had one. She secretly likes the name but is too proud to admit it openly. Kakeru also offers to become her Owner, an idea she seriously considers. Her motivation shifts when the character Hidehiko Otoya shows her a picture of her true Owner the cat, prompting her to abandon that offer and embark on a journey to find the cat. This quest for belonging and a genuine connection drives her actions in the latter part of the series.
By the end of the anime, Miku becomes friendly with the main cast, including Melon, Kakeru, and the others, and is shown still chasing after her Owner. Her relationships with other characters are marked by initial hostility that gradually softens into mutual respect and camaraderie. Her development moves from a lonely, power-driven antagonist to a more sympathetic figure seeking a place of her own, though she retains her independent and headstrong nature.
