Description
Himiko Agari is a student and classmate of Shoko Komi at Itan Private High School. She is a teenage girl of average height, recorded at 156 centimeters, with chin-length dark green hair and dark green eyes, typically wearing the standard school uniform and glasses.

Himiko's defining characteristic is her extremely severe stage fright and social anxiety, which manifests as intense nervousness, hyperventilation, and a tendency to flee and hide, often in a bathroom stall, whenever she feels she is being watched or judged by others. This condition makes her deeply self-conscious, particularly about her curvy figure, a source of embarrassment stemming from being called a meatball during her middle school years. Her struggles are so profound that she suffers from a profound lack of confidence and self-esteem, viewing herself as unworthy of close friendships and preferring to keep to herself.

Despite her debilitating shyness, Himiko possesses a secret, contrasting identity. She is a passionate and knowledgeable gourmet, especially when it comes to ramen, and maintains a distinguished online presence under the alias Ramen is My Staple. On the popular blog site Gurunabe, she writes incisive, highly respected restaurant reviews as the critic RamenCore. When the topic turns to food, her personality transforms completely; she becomes bold, talkative, and assertive, speaking at length with serious expertise, a stark departure from her usual timid demeanor. Her reviews are so influential that a positive write-up can cause a restaurant to be immediately flooded with customers.

Her motivations within the story are primarily driven by her desire for connection, which is complicated by her self-loathing. She is captivated by Shoko Komi, viewing her with an almost religious reverence as a goddess. When Komi and Hitohito Tadano approach her to offer friendship, Himiko's anxiety and sense of inferiority are so intense that she refuses, believing herself unworthy. Instead, she famously and anxiously proposes an alternative, offering to serve as Komi loyal dog or pet, a role she finds more fitting for someone of her lowly self-perception. This masochistic tendency, a desire for subservience to those she admires, is a recurring aspect of her personality, even leading her to propose a Whack-A-Mole game for the school festival with the secret hope that Komi might be the one to strike her.

Himiko becomes the third person to officially join Komi growing circle of friends, following Tadano and Najimi Osana. She serves as the library committee member, which is where many of her early interactions with Komi and Tadano take place. Her key relationships are defined by her devotion to Komi, her friendly respect for Tadano as someone close to Komi, and her connection to Najimi, who helps facilitate her initial friendship with Komi. Her body is a source of both anxiety and, occasionally, commentary from others, with Najimi once noting her measurements for a class conversation.

Over the course of the narrative, Himiko makes notable progress. Through her friendship with Komi, she gains a small measure of confidence, even managing to thank Komi for unintentionally helping her change a little and succeed in communicating with classmates. During her second academic year, she transfers to a different class but continues to appear frequently, often joining Komi and friends for gastronomic expeditions or in her role in the library. Her development, however, is not linear, and by the second year her appearances become less frequent.

Her notable abilities include her secret expertise as a celebrated food blogger and her unexpected effectiveness as a strict guardian of silence during library study sessions, where she is part of the Library Committee Slap Team and wields a paper fan to maintain order. Despite her anxieties, she is also academically capable, having ranked seventh in her year on the summer term final exams.
