Description
Hitomi Tadano is the younger sister of the main protagonist, Hitohito Tadano. She is a first-year student at Kisei High School, having previously served as the class president in her final year of middle school. Within her family, she shares a bedroom with her older brother, where they have bunk beds and a mutual agreement to respect each other's privacy by not crossing into each other's designated sleeping spaces.

Hitomi possesses an energetic, cheerful, and highly confident personality that stands in stark contrast to her brother's more reserved and passive nature. Where Hitohito is timid and ordinary, Hitomi is outspoken, proactive, and exceptionally adept at social situations. She has a remarkable ability to read the atmosphere and understand the emotions of those around her, a trait she shares with her brother, though she applies it in her own forward and sometimes forceful way. She enjoys teasing her brother about his romantic life and often meddles in his affairs, but this stems from genuine care and a supportive nature. For instance, she encouraged him to confess his feelings even when she mistakenly believed he was in love with a male classmate.

A key driver for Hitomi is her desire to help and support those who have difficulty communicating. After noticing that her classmate, Shousuke Komi, struggles with a communication disorder similar to his older sister Shouko's, Hitomi takes it upon herself to assist him. Her methods are unique and assertive; she is known to use her skills in ventriloquism to speak on his behalf, fooling other students into thinking they are conversing with him. When he tries to brush her off, she sometimes resorts to using judo moves to get him to go along with her plans. She becomes a central figure in this side romance, acting almost as a manager for Shousuke by organizing his schedule and creating a reception box for him on Valentine's Day.

Hitomi's role in the story is primarily as a catalyst for social interaction and comic relief, particularly around the Komi family. She serves as a bridge between her own family and Shouko, whom she likes and considers exceptionally lucky for her brother to know. Hitomi is perceptive about the romantic dynamics between her brother, Shouko Komi, and Rumiko Manbagi, though her otherwise sharp insight can sometimes lead her to incorrect conclusions, such as her brief belief that Hitohito had feelings for Makoto Katai. She is supportive of her brother's eventual relationship with Shouko and expresses happiness at the prospect of someone like her becoming a sister.

Notably, Hitomi is a skilled athlete who competed in regional judo tournaments during middle school. Her athleticism is complemented by strong organizational and leadership abilities, which she demonstrates through her confident management of events and schedules. Her proficiency with technology and digital devices, along with her ventriloquism, are among her other distinctive talents. While her face resembles her brother's and might be considered unremarkable, her vibrant personality and exceptional skills make her a standout character who effectively forces social connections with even the most withdrawn individuals.
