Description
Chizuru Sakaki functions as class representative in Takeru Shirogane's high school, enforcing discipline and regularly correcting his conduct. Her troubled childhood and strained maternal relationship forge her stern disposition. Previously lacrosse team captain, she accidentally injures friend Akane Suzumiya during a sports festival, triggering classmates' harassment that amplifies her guilt and sense of duty.

When humanity confronts an alien menace in an alternate timeline, Chizuru commands the training unit Takeru enters, now revealed as Prime Minister Sakaki Korechika's daughter. She enlists in the military to defy her father, originally intending to defend Japan with the Imperial Army until his interference transfers her to the UN's Yokohama Base. This fuels her drive to validate her capabilities, though she initially doubts Takeru's competence and clashes with volatile teammate Kei Ayamine during drills. Takeru's unwavering efforts to unite the squad eventually reconcile their conflicts.

A military coup devastates Chizuru psychologically when rebel leader Sagiri Naoya assassinates her father. Blinded by fury, she assaults Sagiri's forces alone but is overpowered. Grieving at her father's grave, she admits having "no place left to go home to," hardening her resolve while fracturing her emotional stability.

As a Gun Sweeper operator in Special Task Force A-01, Chizuru recklessly charges into BETA invaders during Yokohama Base's surprise attack, convinced Akane perished and swearing to shield those she cherishes. Takeru rescues her from near-certain death. Her fragility resurfaces during Operation Ouka's assault on the BETA hive. Confronted by insurmountable enemy reinforcements alongside Kei Ayamine, both activate S-11 self-destruct charges to collapse a tunnel, sacrificing themselves for the mission's success. Their deaths are masked from Takeru using voice-altered communications impersonating Chizuru.

In a pre-operation letter to Takeru, Chizuru contemplates her personal evolution and remorse. She apologizes for coercing him about drafting a will, credits his influence on her leadership growth, and admits enduring yet unreciprocated romantic feelings despite his bond with Sumika Kagami. The letter closes wishing him future joy.

Her name holds symbolism: "Sakaki" denotes a sacred Shinto tree for rituals, while "Chizuru" fuses "thousand" and "crane," alluding to the legend where folding a thousand origami cranes fulfills a wish. She stands 157 cm tall.
