Description
Koubuin Yuuhi, alternatively known as Mitsurugi Yuuhi in specific realities, holds the position of Shogun within the Empire of Japan, governing both military and political matters. Born on December 16th, she is the twin sister of Mitsurugi Meiya; superstitions surrounding twins led to their separation at birth. Raised as the heiress of the Koubuin house, one of five regent families backing the pro-Imperial faction, Yuuhi ascended to Shogun after the previous holder perished during the 1998 BETA invasion of Japan. Despite their separation, Yuuhi harbors profound concern for Meiya. She assigns Tsukuyomi Mana as Meiya's guardian and gifts her a purple Type-00R Tactical Surface Fighter. Meiya initially rejects these gestures to prevent complicating Yuuhi's position or highlighting their physical resemblance.
In the 12/5 Incident, Yuuhi orchestrates a secret evacuation from Kyoto, using herself as bait to draw rebel forces away from the capital and reduce civilian casualties. Accompanied by Grand Chamberlain Yoroi Sakon, she is ultimately rescued by Takeru Shirogane of the 207th Tactical Armored Platoon. This escape facilitates a reunion with Meiya after years apart, reaffirming Yuuhi's enduring care for her sister. Following the conflict's resolution and the collapse of Prime Minister Kurechika's cabinet, Yuuhi regains significant political influence and returns to Kyoto. From there, she offers continuous support to Takeru, Meiya, and their allies. In *Total Eclipse*, set prior to her Shogunate, she holds an audience with Iwaya Eiji to endorse development of the EML-99X Electromagnetic Induction Launcher. She pledges political and financial backing, expressing hope such weapons could accelerate the war's end.
