TV-Series
Description
Nozomi, the primary protagonist of the original "Chou Tokkyuu Hikarian" series, merges with a 300 Series Shinkansen bullet train, transforming into a heroic robot Hikarian. He embodies an energetic, cheerful, and kind-hearted personality fueled by a strong fighting spirit. His transformation initially draws power exclusively from solar energy, creating a significant combat weakness during nighttime, bad weather, or any absence of direct sunlight. This limitation is later overcome through upgraded armaments designed to function independently of solar power.
His initial arsenal features the Hand Sword and Sun Shield, enabling the "Sky Sunday" technique that amplifies sunlight into a laser fired from the shield. Subsequent upgrades include the Sky Sword and Star Shield, which unlock the "Stardust Stream" technique, a violet stellar beam. His final upgrade, the Perfect Shield, facilitates the enhanced "Perfect Sky Sunday" attack.
Later in the television series, following an absence from Earth, Nozomi's transformation mechanics evolve significantly. He now requires traveling at a minimum speed of 275 km/h to achieve his Hikarian form, necessitating additional energy mechanisms to reach and maintain this critical velocity.
In the sequel "Denkou Chou Tokkyuu Hikarian," Nozomi transitions to a supporting role, appearing as a mentor figure who shares his experience and knowledge with the new generation of Hikarians. His presence bridges the narrative across both series. Beyond combat, he also served as a host in promotional media for the Tomica-Plarail toy line. Throughout his journey, Nozomi evolves from an enthusiastic hero reliant on specific environmental conditions into a more versatile warrior, marked by technical enhancements to his combat systems and a narrative shift from frontline protagonist to experienced guide.
