Description
Ayu Tsukimiya is a 17-year-old girl whose childlike appearance and short 154 cm stature often cause others to mistake her for younger. She sports brown hair fastened with a red hairband, red eyes, and a distinctive outfit: a large tan duffel coat, mittens, brown argyle socks, snow boots, and a small backpack featuring wing attachments on both sides. She refers to herself using the masculine pronoun "boku" and frequently utters "ugū" to express frustration, fear, or distress. Her favorite food is taiyaki, tied to a significant childhood memory.

Her personality blends energetic cheerfulness with underlying emotional vulnerability. She exhibits impulsive actions, like tackling people when excited, though this later softens to lighter taps. Despite her generally upbeat demeanor, she experiences extreme distress over failing to locate a lost item whose nature she cannot recall. She is easily frightened, especially by supernatural topics, and displays naivety about everyday objects like mobile phones. Her relentless determination to find her lost possession drives her story, hinting at deeper unresolved trauma.

Her past centers on events seven years prior. After her mother's death, a young Ayu met Yuichi Aizawa while crying outside a store. He comforted her by buying taiyaki, forging their initial bond and her fondness for the treat. They developed a close friendship over winter break, culminating in Yuichi gifting her an angel doll won from a claw machine. He promised to grant three wishes through the doll: her first wish was for him never to forget her; her second was to "attend school" together, leading them to designate a large tree in a forest clearing as their personal schoolhouse. They buried the doll nearby in a jar. On winter break's final day, a gust of wind dislodged Ayu from the tree, causing a severe fall and head injuries that left her comatose. This trauma suppressed Yuichi's memories of their time together.

In the present, Ayu reappears as an ikiryō (spiritual manifestation) of her comatose body. Her persistent search for the "lost item" unknowingly represents the buried angel doll. As Yuichi regains fragmented memories, their relationship deepens into romance. After fully recalling the accident, Yuichi mistakenly believes Ayu died and despairs. Upon locating and repairing the damaged doll, he reunites with Ayu's spirit at the site of their childhood tree (now cut down). She reveals awareness of her non-corporeal state and proposes using her third wish to erase Yuichi's memories. Their embrace precedes her temporary disappearance. Yuichi later learns Ayu survived the fall but remained hospitalized in a coma for seven years. She later awakens miraculously, allowing them to resume their relationship in person.

Recurring motifs define her arc: the winged backpack unintentionally foreshadowed her connection to the angel doll and spiritual existence. Pinky swears symbolize the weight of promises between her and Yuichi, reflecting her fear of abandonment after her mother's death. The buried doll physically represents repressed memories and unrealized wishes, its recovery facilitating emotional resolution. Her coma and spiritual manifestation illustrate themes of miracles and bonds enduring despite physical separation.
