Description
Ken, the oldest son of Ben the Great Dane and Cross the Saluki, bears a mixed appearance dominated by his father's Great Dane physique. His brown coat, darker muzzle, and black eye markings feature two facial scars and cropped ears, notable traits for a wild dog untouched by humans. Born in Mutsu (Ōu in the anime) before Akakabuto's final defeat, Ken debuted as a pup with siblings George and Minnie. Amidst that conflict, the wolf Retsuga captured Ken’s family, holding them hostage for wolf leader Reima until Gin secured their freedom.

Ken matured in Kofu alongside relocated Ōu soldiers and his parents, forging a close bond with Kagetora, son of Kai dog Kurotora. At three years old, both journeyed to Ōu as soldiers. Their peace shattered when the monstrous Kaibutsu ravaged Ōu, slaughtering most forces; Ken and Kagetora survived. In the Hougen Arc, they commanded a unit against Batto’s faction, crushing him with Ben and Kurotora’s aid. Ken later rescued Weed from icy imprisonment and battled Hougen.

During Viktor’s Russian Arc invasion, Ken and Ōu soldiers were trapped in a gorge. Gravely wounded and near surrender, Musashi’s words reignited his will to fight. After healing, Ken joined Weed’s Hokkaidō mission. In the Hybrid Arc, he fought hybrid bears. Sensing Ben’s spirit during one skirmish, Ken howled to repel a bear, later mourning Ben’s death with George at his grave.

Surviving a volcanic eruption in *Ginga Densetsu Weed: Orion*, Ken was imprisoned in Jinemon Kurohabaki’s mine. Released, he fought in the final clash against Masamune Kurohabaki. During *Ginga: The Last Wars*, Ken accompanied Weed to investigate blood-scented terrain, witnessing Monsoon critically injuring Weed. Ken carried Weed to safety, then defied orders to defend Gin against Monsoon. Monsoon slashed Ken’s neck and chest, leaving non-fatal wounds. Ken escaped with Rocket and Kyōshirō, evading bear patrols until floodwaters swept him downstream. Orion’s group rescued him, and Akame revived him.

Ken’s volatile, impulsive nature drives reckless attacks, yet he respects elders and pledges fierce loyalty to Ōu’s leadership. Initially rigid about rules, he adapted to crises. This loyalty briefly fractured his bond with Kagetora when Ken wrongly blamed him for provoking humans, though they reconciled. Family anchors Ken: he calms his hot-headed brother George and reeled when George nearly deserted the pack. After the Monsoon battle, Ken apologized for failing to protect Lydia, revealing his accountability. He fiercely defended his mother Cross’s honor when insulted, showcasing deep familial devotion.
