When the government reneged on postwar aid pledges and his own townsfolk recoiled at his monstrous visage, Daniel turned desperate. He ambushed and slaughtered traveling merchants near Burnwood, seizing their goods to sustain his ailing mother and neighbors. While some residents initially hailed him as a clandestine protector, his violent methods inevitably drew suspicion.

Hank, a former wartime ally, uncovered Daniel’s crimes and confronted him. Defiant, Daniel framed his brutality as sacrifice for survival and belonging, rejecting surrender. Their battle climaxed with Daniel shifting into his full Incarnate form, only to be fatally struck down.
