Description
Jinki Mukae is a central figure in the later narrative arcs of the Cardfight!! Vanguard anime, known primarily as the enigmatic organizer of the Deluxe tournament, a high-stakes competition designed to determine the strongest cardfighter in Japan. His actions are deeply rooted in personal tragedy, specifically the death of his older brother, Shingi Mukae. This loss is the driving force behind his most significant creations: the artificial intelligence Gui and the Uniformers organization, both of which were initially conceived as a means to cope with his grief.

Physically, Jinki is recognized by his pale skin and pale green hair, which is styled so that two long strands cover his right eye. He also has two distinct ahoge, or cowlicks, on his head. His attire typically consists of a pair of white headphones, a kimono secured with a thick belt, and two necklaces, all of which contribute to his mysterious and composed presence. He was born on April 18th.

In his initial appearance, Jinki's personality is marked by deep emotional turmoil. His desire to create the "ultimate strength" through data-driven uniformity via the Uniformers is a direct but misguided reaction to the pain of losing Shingi. This single-minded dedication is evident when Michiru Hazama falls into a coma from spending too much time in the digital space; Jinki lashes out at Gui for allowing it to happen but still proceeds with the Uniformers project. His perspective begins to change after his AI, Gui, is defeated by the fighter Yu-Yu Kondo. Following this loss, Jinki reconciles with Gui and begins to move past his brother's death, shifting his focus toward a more positive goal: traveling the world with Gui to spread the joy of cardfighting in Shingi's memory.

This personal evolution is put to the test in the events of Cardfight!! Vanguard Divinez Season 2. After returning from his travels, Jinki is visited by a vision and receives the card Destined One of Protection, Alden, becoming an owner of a Destined One. He is then approached by the mysterious entity Sybilt, who attempts to mentally corrupt Jinki and pull him into the Destined Showdown, a tournament with world-altering stakes. However, Jinki reveals a unique safeguard: Gui possesses the ability to switch his consciousness with the AI's own. By doing so, Jinki avoids Sybilt's mental corruption entirely while appearing to be affected, allowing him to operate as a double agent within the group of Destined One owners.

His role in the Destined Showdown demonstrates his maturity and strategic mind. During a crucial cardfight against Masanori Iseki, Masanori accuses Jinki of wishing to revive their deceased brother. Jinki firmly refutes this, stating that he has successfully moved on from Shingi's death. He instead reveals that it is Masanori who secretly harbors that wish. This confrontation solidifies Jinki's character development, showing that he has accepted his loss and is no longer driven by futile desires to undo the past. His wish becomes one to protect the happiness of all fighters, a principle inherited from Shingi's own will. Following this fight, he works with Masanori, Gui, and Gabwelius to share intelligence on Sybilt's true plans and disrupt them from within.

Throughout the series, Jinki's abilities as a cardfighter evolve in tandem with his character. Initially, he used decks focused on mechanics like Soul-Charging, often utilizing units such as the Dragontree of Ecliptic Decimation, Griphogila. Later, he inherits and modifies his late brother's Keter Sanctuary deck, which features the unit Sword that Connects Heaven and Earth, Olden, as a way to honor their bond. As a Destined One owner, his true avatar becomes the Destined One of Protection, Alden, a unit that specializes in defensive flexibility by recalling rearguards to the hand, which mirrors his strategic and protective nature. His key relationships are defined by his bonds with his creation Gui, his rival-turned-ally Yu-Yu Kondo, and his complex history with his late brother Shingi and Shingi's old friend, Masanori Iseki.
