Daiki Yamashita
Description
Daiki Yamashita is a Japanese voice actor and singer born on September 7, 1989, in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. He is affiliated with the talent agency Arts Vision. Yamashita's journey to becoming a voice actor began with his admiration for Koichi Yamadera, specifically his performance as the Genie in the Japanese dub of the Disney film Aladdin. Initially interested in singing, he studied vocals at a music college in Tokyo for two years after high school. It was during this time that his interest in performance grew, leading him to enroll in the Japan Narration Actor Institute to pursue voice acting professionally. He made his debut as a voice actor in 2012 with a minor role in the anime series Little Busters!.
Yamashita's career gained significant momentum in 2013 when he landed his first lead roles. He was cast as Rekka Shirogane in Gaist Crusher after winning an audition with over 200 participants, and also voiced the protagonist Sakamichi Onoda in the long-running anime Yowamushi Pedal. His performance as the determined and kind-hearted cyclist helped establish him as a rising talent in the industry. In 2014, he received the Best Male Newcomer Award at the 8th Seiyu Awards, a prestigious honor recognizing promising young voice actors. This accolade affirmed his early success and pointed toward a prolific career.
Yamashita is widely known for his energetic and heartfelt portrayal of young male protagonists. His most iconic role to date is Izuku Midoriya, the main character in the immensely popular superhero anime My Hero Academia, a part he has played since 2016 across multiple seasons and films. He also voices Goh in the Pokémon Journeys series and has taken on distinctive roles in other major franchises, such as Narancia Ghirga in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind and Yushiro in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. His filmography is extensive, demonstrating his ability to voice a wide range of characters. Other notable roles include Shū Iura in Horimiya, Amatsuyu "Jorō" Kisaragi in Oresuki, Hokuro in Ranking of Kings, Yotasuke Takahashi in Blue Period, and Senpai in Don't Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro, among many others listed in his comprehensive filmography.
In addition to his voice acting work, Yamashita is also a singer. He made his debut as a solo artist in 2021 with the album "hear me?" under the A-Sketch record label. He has contributed theme songs for anime series he stars in, such as the ending theme "Tail" for Seven Knights Revolution: Hero Successor. Known for his bright and youthful voice, Yamashita's personal interests include photography, soccer, and tennis, a sport he played from a young age under the guidance of his father, who is a tennis coach. He holds voice actor Kappei Yamaguchi in high regard as someone he respects and wishes to emulate in his own career. As of 2024 and 2025, Yamashita continues to be active in the industry, with ongoing and new roles in series like Rurouni Kenshin, Magilumiere Co. Ltd., and the upcoming Rebuild World.
