Description
Sakura is the school nurse at Tomobiki High School and a Shinto priestess who performs exorcisms and purification rituals. As the niece of the Buddhist monk Cherry, she contrasts sharply with her relatives in appearance—tall, slender, and conventionally attractive. Her childhood was defined by severe illness and isolation; confined to bed with a weak constitution, she grew profoundly lonely. This isolation awakened her ability to see spirits and ghosts, beginning with an early supernatural encounter in a closet. Cherry cared for her throughout this period. During middle or high school, she formed a bond with a boy who bicycled her home daily, but he abruptly ended this arrangement after lying about his inability to continue, having started dating another girl.

A collision with Ataru Moroboshi outside a ramen shop became pivotal. Sensing evil spirits within him, Sakura proposed a purification ritual—secretly intending to transfer the malevolent entities attached to her own illnesses into him. This act cured her chronic conditions, granting her robust health, but left Ataru plagued by spirits. She subsequently joined Tomobiki High as nurse.

Sakura blends traditional speech with formidable physical strength, particularly when deflecting unwanted advances. Male students often feign injuries to visit her infirmary due to her beauty, receiving cold responses. She shares Cherry’s immense appetite, consuming vast food quantities without weight gain while humorously citing a "diet." Her abilities include exorcising spirits, summoning supernatural entities, and displaying superhuman strength when angered.

Key relationships shape her life: She houses Cherry and permits his office experiments but clashes violently over his habit of eating others' food. She harbors lasting animosity toward Ataru, punching him during his flirtations yet feeling obligated to exorcise his spirits due to her past actions. Engaged to Tsubame Ozuno, their relationship faces constant disruptions from Ataru and others. Ten, Lum’s cousin, developed romantic feelings for her; after a brief date, she ended it upon rejecting his inappropriate advances due to his youth.

Her background includes deceased paternal and maternal grandparents, a deceased unnamed father, and an unnamed mother. Her rituals feature chants like "Haratama! Kiyotama!" ("Exorcise! Purify!").
