Description
Ran Komatsuzaki entered the world amidst a catastrophic plane crash that claimed her parents’ lives, surviving against all odds to spend her first five years raised by wolves. Discovered and brought into the care of Jin Kiryuu, a novelist and family friend, her feral upbringing forged a reserved demeanor softened by bonds with adoptive brother Wataru Komatsuzaki and classmate Naru Haibara.

Dormant within her lies the "Crimson Fang"—psychic abilities triggered involuntarily during crises, from diverting falling debris to halting speeding vehicles. These manifestations attract Talon, a shadowy syndicate hunting espers for exploitation. A blood transfusion shared with Wataru after his accident sparks his suspicion of a cryptic link to her powers, their significance still shrouded in mystery.

Talon deploys cyborg operative Sonnet to infiltrate Ran’s school, engineering perilous scenarios to gauge her potential. Forced to harness her escalating abilities, Ran battles fears of losing her humanity—a struggle magnified when Talon abducts her to harvest genetic material for cloning an esper army. The ordeal lays bare her fragility and tenacity in equal measure.

Encounters with Shūichi "Bird" Torigai, a defector from Talon’s cybernetic ranks, kindle an undefined kinship. His subsequent death and mechanical resurrection by Talon strain their connection, yet Ran clings to empathy for him despite their fleeting interactions.

Her journey pivots on reconciling power with selfhood, a tension crystallized in clashes against Sonnet. Though the animated tale leaves Talon’s threat lingering, it signals her inevitable reckoning with mastering the Crimson Fang. Manga lore expands her legacy as heir to an ancient esper bloodline, hinting at deeper threads binding her past to looming battles.
