Description
Junta Teshima, a Sohoku High School student, ascends to bicycle racing club captain in his third year. Before high school, he ranked modestly in competitions—like 43rd in the Sakura City Road Race Tournament—fostering resentment toward elite cyclists and nearly quitting. This changed on his first day at Sohoku when he encountered Hajime Aoyagi struggling on the school slope. Their shared identity as average cyclists sparked an immediate bond, reigniting Teshima's motivation to cycle. They joined the club together.

Failing to qualify for the 40th Summer Inter High as a first-year—placing last in selection—initially reinforced Teshima's self-doubt. Witnessing the Inter High reignited his resolve, and Aoyagi proposed a "team of two" partnership. Combining Teshima’s strategy with Aoyagi’s strength, they won five of six races. Teshima managed Aoyagi’s pacing and stamina as tactician, symbolized by gloves: Teshima’s read "certain," Aoyagi’s "victory."

In his second year, Teshima joined training camps and races, taking third in the 21st Minegayama Hill Climb. He disrupted opponents via psychological tactics—blocking passes and mocking pacing—to create openings for Aoyagi. Though subtly aloof toward first-years initially, he later supported them, gifting Sakamichi Onoda metal pedals for the 1,000 km camp. After third-years graduated, Teshima became captain with Aoyagi as vice-captain. They demonstrated physical growth by defeating riders like Naruko and Imaizumi in a sprint, showcasing leg muscles honed through training.

As third-year captain, Teshima prioritized team cohesion and mentorship. He guided Shunsuke Imaizumi to recognize teammates’ strengths and permitted Naruko leave to reconsider his sprinter future. During the 42nd Inter High qualifiers, he placed sixth. At Minegayama Hill Climb, he matched top climbers by increasing cadence and motivated Onoda psychologically by comparing rival Ashikiba to ex-teammate Makishima. Teshima displayed sportsmanship by pausing for opponent Manami during a race after learning of a mechanical issue.

Teshima’s expertise lies in strategy over physicality. He anticipates opponents, blocks passes, and manipulates races via psychological warfare. Yusuke Makishima noted Teshima’s climbing potential but cited mediocre technique, instinct, and lack of sprint wins as limitations. His analytical nature enables near-telepathic prediction of Aoyagi’s thoughts and physical limits.

Beyond racing, Teshima participates in team activities like riding multi-person bicycles in "Re:Road." He enjoys singing, karaoke (notably J-pop impressions), sports manga, and Japanese curry. Academically strong in math, he competed in abacus tournaments during middle school.

Physically, Teshima has wavy hair often tied in a ponytail, depicted in blue, purple, or black across media. He stands 173 cm tall and weighs 59 kg, frequently wearing star-patterned shirts. His third-year design incorporates tea-related motifs.
