Description
Junta Teshima, a Sohoku High School student, ascends to bicycle racing club captain in his third year. Before high school, he ranked modestly in competitions—like 43rd in the Sakura City Road Race Tournament—fostering resentment toward elite cyclists and nearly quitting. This changed on his first day at Sohoku when he encountered Hajime Aoyagi struggling on the school slope. Their shared identity as average cyclists sparked an immediate bond, reigniting Teshima's motivation to cycle. They joined the club together.
Failing to qualify for the 40th Summer Inter High as a first-year—placing last in selection—initially reinforced Teshima's self-doubt. Witnessing the Inter High reignited his resolve, and Aoyagi proposed a "team of two" partnership. Combining Teshima’s strategy with Aoyagi’s strength, they won five of six races.
