Description
Shunsuke Imaizumi is a key member of Sohoku High School's bicycle racing club, beginning competitive cycling in middle school. There, he achieved multiple victories, including first place in the Eastern Cycling Tournament and the 6th Southern Bousou Middle School Road Race Tournament. A defining moment came with his second-place finish behind rival Akira Midousuji in the 11th Chiba Cycling Road Race; this loss deeply affected him and fueled his determination to become the world's fastest cyclist.

Hailing from an affluent family, evidenced by their large home with a two-car garage, Imaizumi was introduced to cycling by the family butler/driver, Takahashi. Takahashi took him to a bike shop where an extended test ride ignited his passion for road bikes. His early racing style involved aggressive breakaways to escape pack noise, seeking "peace, quiet, and clear air" at the front.

Initially characterized by intense pride, logical thinking, and a reserved demeanor, Imaizumi dismissed inexperienced riders like Sakamichi Onoda and Terufumi Sugimoto. He struggled to give compliments and avoided social interactions, particularly with fans and crowds, viewing cycling as a solitary pursuit driven by the need to defeat Midousuji alone. Physically, he possesses a tall, lean build (181 cm), short spiky black hair, sharp facial features, and a preference for collecting Usagi brand t-shirts alongside European cycling caps and hats.

As an all-rounder cyclist, Imaizumi excels in both sprinting and climbing, relying on precise gear shifts and calculated strategies. During Sohoku's grueling 1000km training camp, forced to ride without gear shifters, he developed improved bike control and a more intuitive riding style. This evolution culminated at the 41st Inter High, where he overcame his mental block about Midousuji and embraced aggressive, instinctive racing. Post-Inter High, his damaged bike was replaced with a lightweight Scott frame featuring motorized gear shifters, enhancing his shifting speed and efficiency.

Imaizumi's development centers on learning teamwork. Through interactions with Onoda, Shoukichi Naruko, and the Sohoku team, he gradually accepted collective effort over individual victory. At the Inter High, he confronted his lingering complex about losing to Midousuji, shifting from a solitary ace to a supportive team player who assists teammates and prioritizes group success. By his second year, he becomes Sohoku's ace, actively mentors newer members like Sugimoto, pushes Naruko to develop all-rounder capabilities, and softens his view of Onoda, acknowledging his growth despite initial skepticism.

His known achievements include 1st place in multiple middle school races (Eastern Cycling Tournament, Southern Bousou Tournament), 2nd in the 11th Chiba Cycling Road Race, 6th overall in the 41st Inter High, 4th in the 21st Minegayama Hill Climb, 2nd in the 42nd Inter High Qualifiers, and 4th in the 42nd Inter High.

Imaizumi dislikes losing and crowded environments. He enjoys riding at the front, listening to movie soundtracks through earphones, watching waves alone at the beach, and playing ping-pong competitively. His collections include cycling caps and Usagi apparel. He excels in classical Japanese studies and has a younger sister with whom he shares limited rapport but similar comedic sensibilities.
