OVA
Description
Munto rules the Magical Kingdom, a floating island nation in the Heavenly World. His kingdom teeters on collapse from Akuto depletion—energy drawn from human emotions and dreams that sustains their existence. Blamed for excessive consumption by other heavenly realms, the united kingdoms move to eliminate the Magical Kingdom. This risks annihilation for both worlds: without Akuto, the heavens would crash onto Earth.

He inherited the throne under dire circumstances. His parents, former rulers, sacrificed themselves to return to the Akuto, burdening him with his world's salvation. Elders in his kingdom once viewed him as cursed, casting him as an outcast and deepening his isolation. Despite his youth, he shoulders the profound responsibility for his people's survival.

His personality blends pride, stubbornness, and courage, often appearing abrasive initially. When divine foresight identifies Yumemi Hidaka—an Earth girl who sees the heavenly islands—as key to restoring Akuto, Munto defies celestial taboos. He descends to the Lower World (Earth), a perilous journey where the space-time barrier wounds him physically on contact with humans.

His character evolves significantly. In the first OVA, he demands Yumemi's power with scant explanation, frustrated by her confusion. After she saves him by piercing the barrier, a mental connection deepens, forcing involuntary exchanges of their pasts. He witnesses her childhood insecurities; she sees his traumatic memories, including his parents' sacrifice and the scorn he endured.

By the second OVA, he shows greater vulnerability. He hesitates to seek Yumemi's further aid, fearing her human fragility could make her "disappear in an instant" if fully drawn into the heavenly conflict. This terror stems from burgeoning protectiveness and care, contrasting his earlier brashness. His reluctance marks a role reversal: Yumemi now offers help while he grapples with doubt.

Key relationships define his arc. He shares mutual respect with Ryuely, the prophetess who sacrifices her eyesight to guide him. With Gass, guardian of time, he forms a tense alliance; Gass permits Munto's breaches into the Lower World despite the physical decay it causes. Antagonistically, he contends with Gntarl, commander of the united armies, who covets power and attacks the Magical Kingdom.

In later media (TV series, film), Munto accepts Yumemi's resolve and trusts her to stabilize Akuto. Post-conflict, he prepares to bridge their worlds, returning to visit her despite his duties—signaling enduring commitment. His feelings, though unspoken, manifest through protectiveness, blushing, and symbolic gestures like enveloping her in his cape.
