Description
Hana is a magical baby born from a flower in the Witch World's Queen's Garden. Her birth is witnessed by Doremi Harukaze and her friends, who become her caretakers in accordance with a witch law requiring those who see a magical baby's birth to raise it for a year. Doremi names her, and Hana is recognized as a candidate to become the next Witch Queen due to her immense inherent magical power.
As an infant, Hana's growth and well-being drive much of the story, as her caretakers must ensure she passes health examinations given by the Witch World's head nurse, Majo Heart. Hana's powerful magic attracts dangers, including kidnapping attempts by a wizard named Oyajide seeking to aid the Wizard World, and later by the Flat4, a group of young wizards who eventually become allies. The previous Witch Queen, Majo Tourbillon, takes negative notice of Hana and curses her to fall ill. The sole cure is the Love Supreme Flower from a cursed forest. After Doremi and the others retrieve the flower but are cursed into eternal sleep, Hana uses her powerful magic to break the curse and wake them, though this results in the group losing their witch identities.
In a later story, Majo Tourbillon curses Hana again, giving her a strong dislike for the vegetables essential to her magical growth. Her caretakers help her overcome this aversion. Eventually, wishing to be human and remain with her adoptive family, Hana expends all her magic to physically age herself into a sixth grader. This act shatters her magical crystals and transforms the Maho-Do into a crafts shop. To help her regain status, her caretakers supply energy so she can become a witch apprentice again. Hana aids in resolving a crisis caused by Majo Tourbillon's power, which threatens to put all worlds to sleep, by helping recreate handmade gifts to awaken Majo Tourbillon and break the vines imprisoning her. She also assists in stopping the spread of black flowers that cause laziness, with the help of a white elephant named Pao.
After Majo Tourbillon awakens and reconciles with her grandchildren, she lifts the witch frog curse. Hana's caretakers are offered the chance to become full witches but choose to remain human. They combine their crystal fragments into a new crystal ball for Hana. Following their elementary school graduation, Hana is returned to the Witch World by Majo Rika.
Hana appears in the OVA series *Ojamajo Doremi Na-i-sho*, which takes place during the timeline of *Motto! Ojamajo Doremi*.
