Description
Shion, an ogre tribe survivor, escaped an orc-led genocide that destroyed her village, fleeing through the Jura Forest with five others including the chief's children. Seeking refuge, she encountered Rimuru Tempest and attacked him under the mistaken belief he caused her tribe's destruction. Mediation by the ogre princess ended the conflict, leading Shion and her group to join Rimuru. Receiving the name "Shion" from Rimuru triggered her evolution from ogre to Kijin, marking the start of her self-proclaimed role as his "first secretary" and bodyguard.
Initially, Shion possessed light purple skin, a thick black forehead horn, a visible sharp tooth, and light purple hair in a ponytail. She wore a brown robe with woolen borders revealing significant cleavage and a distinctive green and tooth-like white stone necklace. Her Kijin evolution refined her appearance: the horn narrowed, the sharp tooth and purple skin tint vanished, height increased to approximately 170-180 centimeters, hair grew longer and remained purple, and her figure became notably voluptuous yet slender. She adopted Western formal wear—a purple jacket, light green shirt, and purple pants—often leaving the jacket unbuttoned.
Shion's personality starkly contrasts her elegant look. She is emotionally volatile, impulsive, and solves problems with unrestrained violence. As Rimuru's secretary, she lacks practical skills, frequently misrecording names and details, leaving Shuna to handle most duties. She exhibits fierce loyalty and devotion to Rimuru, bordering on romantic obsession, which sparks jealousy towards those close to him like Shuna or Diablo. This possessiveness manifests as threatening auras or verbal barbs during rivals' interactions. Her clumsiness extends to domestic tasks, most infamously her catastrophic cooking; using her massive sword for preparation creates toxic, sentient substances harmful even to Rimuru, who is immune to most poisons. Later acquiring the Unique Skill "Cook" improved flavor, but texture remained inedible until Rimuru provided a regular knife. Despite these flaws, she maintains unwavering confidence.
A pivotal moment occurred during the Falmuth Kingdom's invasion of Tempest. Shion perished protecting Shuna and children, her shattered horn symbolizing broken pride. Her soul persisted due to a barrier, enabling Rimuru to revive her alongside other slain citizens after his ascension to Demon Lord. This resurrection fundamentally altered her existence: she evolved into a "Wicked Oni," diverging from her peers' "Bewitching Oni" path, due to her death and revival using demonic soul energy. This made her a demi-spiritual lifeform comparable to a Demon Lord in strength. Post-resurrection, she gained greater self-assurance, overcoming prior abandonment insecurities. Though still impulsive, she demonstrated uncharacteristic wisdom, such as taming Dagruel's sons as her students. Her connection to Rimuru also enhanced her intuition for efficient truth deduction.
Her abilities evolved significantly. Initially, she wielded immense physical strength and the giant sword Gourikimaru. Post-resurrection, she developed Ultraspeed Regeneration, immunity to physical/mental attacks, and the Unique Skill "Cook," which manipulated outcomes to her will—initially misused for cooking but later repurposed in combat to cut barriers or defy magical laws. Her Battle Oni Skill amplified combat ferocity. She eventually surpassed Benimaru in one-on-one combat, earning recognition as Tempest's strongest single fighter. During a crisis involving Rimuru's banishment, her fury unlocked the sealed Ultimate Skill "King of Outrage (Susanoo)," enabling energy absorption and near-unstoppable power. She commands the Yomigaeri, Tempest's revived citizen-soldiers, and holds the title of War Lord among Rimuru's Twelve Guardian Lords.
Shion's relationships center on Rimuru. She competes with Shuna and Diablo for his attention, maintaining tense but respectful rivalries. She leads a personal army and is admired by subordinates like Gobzo, though oblivious to his affections. Musically inclined, she sings and plays instruments, a skill honed while serving as Shuna's bodyguard in their ogre tribe.
