Description
Blitz Fox is a Pyrus Bakugan who serves as the partner and guardian Bakugan of the brawler Athena Monde. This creature has a kitsune-like appearance, resembling a fox in its design. As a Pyrus attribute Bakugan, Blitz Fox wields fire-based powers and is associated with the color red. In the Japanese version of the anime, this character is portrayed as male, while in most other releases, Blitz Fox is characterized as female.
Blitz Fox first emerged to help contain an outbreak of invasive plants from Vestroia, using fire abilities to burn away the vegetation causing chaos in the city. Early battles saw Blitz Fox engaging multiple opponents, including Bakugan such as Trox, Pegatrix, Howlkor, Hydorous, Pharol, and the powerful Drago. While Blitz Fox demonstrated significant combat capabilities, confrontations with Drago often resulted in losses.
A core aspect of Blitz Fox's journey involves mastering two distinct elemental evolved forms: Strength Mode and Speed Mode. Strength Mode focuses on enhanced physical mass and powerful attacks such as Lava Bombs, making the form bulkier compared to the base appearance. Speed Mode emphasizes agility and swift techniques, resulting in a more slender form and granting abilities like Fireball Blitz, where Blitz Fox transforms into a fireball to strike opponents, and Blazing Lasso, which traps enemies within a fire vortex.
The path to achieving Speed Mode proved particularly difficult and became a significant source of frustration for both Blitz Fox and Athena. During training battles against Pegatrix, Blitz Fox repeatedly evolved into Strength Mode instead of the desired Speed Mode. This struggle culminated in a battle against Drago where the inability to access Speed Mode led Blitz Fox to become increasingly violent and lose control of its emotions. The battle had to be interrupted by another brawler, Magnus, whose Bakugan Nillious in Speed Mode defeated Blitz Fox. After this incident, Blitz Fox was shown to be upset about having lost control of itself. This moment marks a key point in its development, as Blitz Fox later acknowledged past mistakes made during emotional outbursts while working to master both evolved forms.
Blitz Fox shares a close partnership with its Nanogan companion, Scorcher. As an early adopter of Nano-Gear technology, Blitz Fox could utilize the Magma Scorcher technique. The bond with Athena is central to Blitz Fox's role in the story, as both share the desire to become stronger together. Their relationship faces challenges during the struggles with evolution, but they ultimately work through these difficulties. Blitz Fox also engages in cooperative tactics with other Bakugan, notably allying with Pegatrix for combination attacks such as Double Trouble against common enemies.
Throughout its battles, Blitz Fox demonstrates a variety of signature abilities. Standard techniques include Smokescreen, which creates an obscuring barrier; Searing Slash, a claw attack that causes an explosion upon impact, which was originally mistakenly called Raging Claw in an early episode; Fire Spiral, which generates a spiral tornado of flames; and Inferno Rift, which summons magma rocks from the ground to attack opponents. In its evolved forms, Blitz Fox gains access to additional powerful moves, with Lava Bombs in Strength Mode and Fireball Blitz along with Blazing Lasso in Speed Mode.
Blitz Fox holds the distinction of being the second Bakugan to achieve Strength Mode and the third to achieve Speed Mode. Its evolution pattern mirrors that of Pegatrix, becoming bulkier in Strength Mode and more slender in Speed Mode compared to the original form.
