Description
Gyoza first appears as a money-driven hustler piloting the Triceratops-type Zoid Tryke. He uses Tryke to compete in lucrative games and contests, driven by an obsession with wealth. This fixation originates from his sister's need for expensive medicine monopolized by Haxile, one of the Dark Metal Empire's Four Dark Warriors. The exorbitant cost forces Gyoza into constant money-seeking. He later uncovers the Empire's deception: the medicine was unnecessary, and moving from their town would have eliminated the need for treatment. After confronting the Empire over this lie, Gyoza entrusts his sister to Greta and joins Team Freedom.

Beneath a stingy exterior, Gyoza possesses underlying kindness. His distinctive traits include frequently speaking in rap and wearing disconnected headphones. This affinity for rhythmic language grants him exceptional skill in word-based games like "Word Chain." As a pilot, he counters Tryke's relative slowness with effective close-range combat tactics and rhythmic coordination, using rap and dance to synchronize with and boost Tryke's fighting capabilities. His piloting prowess is demonstrated when he defeats Salt, a rival with a significantly faster Zoid, before joining Team Freedom.

Within Team Freedom, Gyoza builds relationships, notably with Arashi, who initially invites him to join—an offer Gyoza declines at first. His journey with the team continues until episode 37, where both he and Tryke suffer severe injuries in a conflict, forcing his temporary departure to recover alongside Greta. His Japanese name derives from a type of Japanese dumpling, fitting the series' food-themed naming convention.
