This tragedy shaped his deep resentment toward Moore's former leadership, whom he viewed as weak and responsible for his family's deaths. His bitterness extended to acting captain Claudia Peer, who came from an upper-class background, and Ensign Io Fleming, the son of Moore's deceased leader Otto Fleming. During operations in the Thunderbolt Sector, Graham exploited his position to send Io Fleming on a suicide mission against Zeon forces, intending to use Io's death as propaganda to galvanize support for rebuilding Moore. When the Beehive suffered critical damage from an attack by the Zeon ace Daryl Lorenz in the Psycho Zaku, Captain Claudia ordered the crew to evacuate. Graham, blaming her for the fleet's destruction and fueled by his longstanding grudge, shot Claudia. He declared she must "go down with the ship" alongside him. During this confrontation, a nearby window ruptured, ejecting Claudia into space. Graham remained aboard and perished when the Beehive exploded. Graham adhered to a strict code of honor, particularly the naval tradition of a captain going down with their vessel. His actions stemmed from unresolved trauma over his family's loss and his perception that Moore's elites had betrayed their people through incompetence. His physical appearance included tanned skin and a standard military uniform.
