Veldora Tempest, the Storm Dragon, ranks among the four True Dragons, an incarnation of chaos wielding authority over wind, water, and space. His birth unleashed a relentless restlessness, driving destructive rampages across the world. These included trashing a vampire city ruled by Demon Lord Luminous Valentine roughly 2,000 years ago, earning her enduring grudge. Three centuries prior to the main events, after crushing an Eastern Empire army in the Jura Forest, the summoned hero Chronoa sealed him within the Infinite Prison, condemning him to centuries of monotonous isolation in the Sealed Cave.
His original dragon form presents a massive body armored in black steel-like scales, bluish wings and underside, deep golden eyes, and four horns sweeping backward from his head. Following his release, he incarnates into a human form using a body double from Rimuru Tempest, reshaping it into a muscular young man over two meters tall. This form possesses blond hair, golden eyes, and distinctive zigzag black markings beneath his eyes and on his arms. He typically dresses in a black cape lined in red, gauntlets, black pants, and armored boots, projecting an intimidating yet handsome presence.
Personality-wise, Veldora is boisterous, excitable, and prideful, freely displaying his power. However, he is socially awkward, masking shyness behind boasts of his greatness. His lack of social tact often leads to unintentionally intimidating others through simple requests. Meeting Rimuru and accessing manga stored in Rimuru's memories—which he reveres as "sacred texts"—cultivates greater patience, analytical thinking, and reduced impulsiveness. He harbors deep trauma-induced fear toward his elder sisters, Velzard and Velgrynd, viewing them as tormentors due to past harsh disciplining. In contrast, he forges an equal bond with Rimuru, considering the slime a sworn friend and brother figure for alleviating his loneliness and offering non-punitive guidance.
His abilities encompass catastrophic-level magical energy reserves and signature attacks like Death Wind, Black Thunder, and Ruin Tempest. After Rimuru's intervention, his Unique Skill "Investigator" evolved into the Ultimate Skill "Faust" (later "Lord of Chaos"), granting enhanced processing power, fate manipulation, and near-complete immortality. This immortality includes eternal youth, regeneration via an intact soul, reincarnation upon death, dependence on Rimuru's existence for revival, and a main body residing in imaginary space. He also exhibits acausality, probability manipulation, time control (including moving in stopped time), spatial manipulation, and resistance to virtually all attacks, including power nullification, conceptual manipulation, and existence erasure.
Key relationships define his development. His bond with Rimuru begins when the slime enters his sealed cave; they exchange names, forming a Soul Corridor enabling power-sharing and Veldora's eventual freedom. During a year inside Rimuru's Stomach, he befriends the flame spirit Ifrit (later named Charys), who becomes his apprentice. Post-revival, he resides in Rimuru City within the Jura Tempest Federation, serving as master of the Dungeon to safely vent excess magic. He acknowledges Milim Nava as his niece, sharing playful but restrained interactions, avoids confrontations with his sisters, and maintains a comically contentious dynamic with Luminous Valentine, frequently provoking her by forgetting her name. He also bonds with the demon lord Ramiris over manga.
Across media, Veldora evolves from a feared catastrophe to a more integrated figure in Tempest. He channels his energy into constructive roles: researching technology, training warriors, running a takoyaki stand during festivals, and adopting mannerisms from manga. Major events include his brief enslavement by the Eastern Empire's God-Slaying Bullet and subsequent rescue by Rimuru, which further amplifies his powers. He displays unexpected competencies like cooking and expresses jealousy when his sisters dote on his younger brother, Velgaia, highlighting lingering childish traits. Despite his growth, he retains core aspects like his iconic three-stage laugh and tendency to mimic anime combat moves for comedic effect.
