TV-Series
Description
Glass is a central figure in the second season of The Rising of the Shield Hero, initially appearing as a formidable antagonist before her role evolves into that of a crucial ally. She originates from a different world, one that exists on the opposite side of the Waves of Calamity that threaten both her reality and the one Naofumi Iwatani is summoned to protect. Glass is a member of the Spirit People, also referred to as Soul People, a race whose power and very life force are intrinsically tied to a unique resource known as Soul Power. Her status as a Spirit Person accounts for her most defining physical traits, including pale skin that possesses a slight translucency. She is a beautiful young woman with long, flowing hair, and she typically wears a jet-black kimono adorned with silver embroidery, a style reminiscent of garments worn at funerals, which underscores her often serious and somber demeanor.

In her world, Glass holds the distinguished title of Vassal Weapon wielder, specifically the Fan Hero. This position grants her abilities comparable to the Seven Star Heroes and other Vassal users, making her a figure of immense responsibility and power. Her personality is largely defined by the weight of this duty. She typically comes across as stern, cold, and exceptionally serious, rarely displaying warmth or levity outside of specific circumstances. Glass possesses a deep, unwavering loyalty to her own world and is willing to go to extreme lengths to ensure its survival. This unwavering dedication forms the core of her motivations, explaining her initial actions as an antagonist in the series.

When audiences first encounter Glass in the first season, and her role expands in the second, her primary motivation is the preservation of her home world from the devastating Waves. She believes, or has been led to believe, that the only way to save her reality is to eliminate the four Cardinal Heroes of Naofumi's world. Consequently, she declares herself an enemy to Naofumi and his party. However, this conflict is not born of malice; rather, it stems from a tragic necessity, as both she and Naofumi ultimately seek the same goal: to stop the Waves from destroying their respective worlds. Upon her first encounters with the heroes of Melromarc, she expresses visible disappointment and disgust at their weakness and their childish infighting. Of the four, she only acknowledges Naofumi as a true hero after witnessing his successful battle against a Soul Eater, a feat the other three Cardinal Heroes failed to accomplish.

In the second season, Glass's role in the story shifts significantly. When the Spirit Tortoise, a powerful Guardian Beast, is released and later corrupted by the rogue Vassal Book Holder, Kyo Ethnina, Glass and her companions are forced into an uneasy alliance with Naofumi. Both parties have the same objective: to stop Kyo. While they remain rivals, this truce marks the beginning of a more cooperative relationship. After chasing Kyo to Glass's own world, the alliance solidifies further. Naofumi and his companion Rishia become instrumental in rescuing Glass's most important person, Kizuna Kazayama, the Hunting Hero of Glass's world, who had been trapped in an inescapable labyrinth. It is after this event, and after receiving a stern scolding from Kizuna for her attempts to kill another world's heroes, that Glass fully transitions from a rival to a trusted ally and friend to Naofumi.

Her key relationships are central to her character development. Her most profound connection is with Kizuna, her best friend and trusted companion. While Glass is typically stoic, she displays a markedly more joyful and friendly expression when in Kizuna's presence. Their bond is deep, and it is hinted that Glass's feelings for Kizuna may be romantic, though this is presented as a one-sided devotion or unspoken affection on Glass's part. She also works frequently with L'Arc Berg and Therese Alexanderite, two other Vassal wielders from her world, forming a tight-knit party that mirrors Naofumi's own.

Regarding her abilities, Glass is a remarkably powerful combatant, though her strength is dependent on the accumulation of Soul Power. This attribute acts as a combined measure of vitality, magic, spirit, and experience for her race. The more Soul Power she has, the stronger her attacks and defenses become; conversely, if her Soul Power is depleted, she becomes significantly weaker. This unique resource system gives her a distinct advantage in Naofumi's world, where Soul Healing Water exists to replenish her reserves, but leaves her at a potential disadvantage in her own world, where such resources are not readily available. Her fighting style incorporates dance-like movements to unleash powerful techniques using her Vassal Fan. Notable skills include Circle Dance Zero: Reverse Snow Moon Flower, which creates a devastating tornado, and Circle Dance Rupture: Tortoise Shell Crack, a piercing beam of light that can potentially ignore an opponent's defensive ratings. She was initially far stronger than Naofumi, capable of defeating three of the four Cardinal Heroes without effort. However, as Naofumi continues to train, evolve, and unlock new powers like the Cursed Series, he eventually surpasses her, with Glass herself acknowledging him as the only true hero of his world.
