Description
L'Arc Berg is the wielder of the Vassal Scythe, known as the Scythe Hero, and originates from a parallel world beyond the interdimensional Waves. He is also a king of a country in that world, a dominion that summoned the Hunting Hero, Kizuna Kazayama. Physically, L'Arc has spiked red hair and a muscular build, often carrying a large scythe.
His personality is easygoing, cheerful, and relaxed, giving off the impression of a dependable older brother figure. He is carefree and prefers to take a laid-back approach to problems, though he is bound by duty as a king and hero. He has a childish side, becoming giddy about new experiences like riding a ship, and has a habit of calling younger individuals kiddo. L'Arc is a sharp judge of character, shown when he immediately saw through the negative rumors about Naofumi and recognized him as a good person. He possesses high morals and a warrior spirit, fighting only those he considers enemies and protecting the innocent. Despite his relaxed demeanor, he is charismatic and a respectful leader.
L'Arc's primary motivation is to protect his own world from the Waves of Catastrophe. He initially believed that the only way to save his world was to eliminate the four Cardinal Heroes of Naofumi's world. This mission led him and his companion Therese Alexanderite to cross over into Naofumi's world, where they posed as friendly adventurers during the Cal Mira archipelago event. When the Wave arrived, L'Arc revealed his true goal and fought alongside Glass and Therese against the Cardinal Heroes, easily defeating the Spear, Sword, and Bow Heroes. He recognized Naofumi as a worthy opponent and respected him even as enemies. Later, after Naofumi helped rescue Kizuna, L'Arc shifted from antagonist to ally, and the two regained their friendship while working together for the same purpose.
Key relationships include Therese Alexanderite, with whom he often bickers but shares deep affection; his love for her is evident, and he tries to impress her and is jealous of her attention to others.
