Description
Tomoe hails from Hinomoto, an island nation inspired by feudal Japan, where she serves as a Warrior Priestess (Musha-Miko) within an ancient order dedicated to protecting the homeland. This order upholds loyalty and decorum, focusing on repelling continental invaders and punishing criminals. Her entry into the Queen's Blade tournament follows a prophetic dream received by her high priest, commanding her to seek power abroad to save Hinomoto from corrupt imperial administrators who usurped the child Mikado's authority. After the Kouma Ninja killed most of her fellow priestesses, Tomoe pursues this mission armed with the sacred katana Kushinawa and aided by Shizuka.

Physically, Tomoe is a fit young woman with long black hair, typically secured at the bottom to avoid hindrance in combat. She dons traditional miko attire. Her design evolves later: in the "Rebellion" storyline, a curse blinds her, turning her eyes white; she then wears an additional robe, carries a second sword, and her headband strands lengthen. In "Unlimited," she styles her hair in a ponytail tied with a red bow, while her core attire remains consistent.

Tomoe possesses a calm, modest, and amiable personality. She is soft-spoken, kind, and deeply respectful of decorum, often reacting with scandalized disapproval to others' revealing outfits. She enjoys writing poetry and has a noted fondness for sweets, especially green-tea cake, which she learned to prepare under Leina's guidance. Conversely, she dislikes crude behavior, exemplified by her distaste for characters like Elina Vance. Despite her combat prowess, Tomoe frequently holds back in fights unless severely threatened, showing compassion toward allies like Leina and Risty.

Her combat style blends Eastern martial techniques with mystical elements. She wields Kushinawa, a katana emitting a purple aura that channels her innate energy when in peril, enhancing its effectiveness. She employs anti-demon tools like explosive ofuda (paper talismans), which concentrate destructive force when clustered. Signature techniques include the "Helmet Cleaver," a powerful downward strike, and the "Warrior-priestess kick," an upward kick that launches opponents. Official parameters highlight her bravery, popularity, and resourcefulness in "Rebellion," though her potential diminishes as her technical prowess solidifies.

After the Queen's Blade tournament, Tomoe returns to Hinomoto as a legendary figure. Acknowledged as the supreme warrior of Masakado Shrine, she receives the title of Sword-Saint Priestess from the high priest. However, during her continental travels, the Swamp Witch curses her with blindness. Despite this, she retains her resolve and gentle demeanor, believing her sight's return would signify global recognition of Hinomoto's swordsmanship. Her role in "Unlimited" reaffirms her dedication to homeland defense, declaring, "To defend my homeland, I, The Warrior Priestess Tomoe, step forth!" This phase maintains her ponytail design without further physical changes beyond her "Rebellion" appearance.

Trivia notes suggest her name and role pay homage to Tomoe Gozen, the historical female samurai who later became a miko, underscoring her cultural roots and narrative emphasis on honor and resilience.
