Description
Mio Chibana, an Okinawa native orphaned in his youth, transitions from living with relatives in high school to a freeter’s life by age twenty. His early encounters with novelist Shun Hashimoto bristle with friction due to Shun’s aloofness, yet these tensions gradually shift into a complex romantic pursuit. After vanishing for three years, Mio returns with unwavering resolve, confronting Shun’s self-doubt and societal hesitations head-on to forge a relationship.

Driven by a need to comprehend Shun’s guarded worldview, Mio encourages him to mend familial bonds in Hokkaido—a choice favoring Shun’s healing over their own romantic momentum. Relocating north, Mio confronts hostility from Shun’s adopted brother Fumi and cautious resistance from Shun’s father, all while anchoring Shun through the fallout of a novel that exposes his sexuality to public judgment.

Mio’s orphaned past and history of loss shape his patience for Shun’s emotional battles, fueling his evolution from a grief-stricken adolescent to a resolute partner who navigates societal pressures without sacrificing vulnerability. As Shun grapples with career pauses and Fumi’s defiance, Mio’s steadfastness persists, his adaptability tested yet unbroken. Even amid layered dynamics—like those with Shun’s childhood confidante Sakurako—he upholds authenticity, balancing social nuance with unwavering support for the man he loves.
