Manon, also known as Mairin, is a novice Pokémon trainer from the Kalos region. She possesses a short stature, fair skin, spiky maroon hair, and orange eyes. Her attire consistently features a yellow long-sleeved shirt, a light green cloak with darker edges, and long dark green pants held up by brown suspenders. Accessories include a yellowish-orange scarf, a small bracelet on her right wrist, and a distinctive green hat decorated with orange triangles and a yellow pompom. She wears gray socks and brown shoes.
Her personality blends persistent enthusiasm with significant clumsiness. She often trips or falls, frequently requiring rescue by her Chespin using Vine Whip to prevent harm. Despite her beginner status, she exhibits a forceful determination, openly declaring herself Alain's traveling companion despite his repeated rejections. A cheeky and adventurous spirit drives her to seek new experiences and try cheering up Alain, though he usually dismisses her. Confusion about Mega Evolution leads to misunderstandings, like believing she could undergo it instead of her Pokémon. She shows deep concern for Alain's safety, questioning his involvement in danger and reacting emotionally to his criticisms. Her emotional resilience falters when Alain explicitly calls her a burden, causing profound distress. This distress deepens dramatically after her Chespin falls into a coma, altering her demeanor and halting her travels.
Her journey starts when witnessing Alain battle Astrid's Mega Absol, sparking her fascination with Mega Evolution. She insists on accompanying Alain to learn more, despite his reluctance. During their travels, she captures a Flabébé—nicknamed Bébé—using her Chespin, nicknamed Chespie, after Alain advises using Toxic. Chespie stays outside its Poké Ball, utilizing Vine Whip, Pin Missile, and Toxic, while Bébé employs Magical Leaf and Razor Leaf.
In Hoenn, she encounters Steven Stone after a fall and witnesses the interrupted battle between Alain and Steven. She later accompanies Alain, Steven, and Lysandre to ruins housing a megalith. Their actions inadvertently awaken Mega Rayquaza; Alain is injured protecting her from Draco Meteor, instilling a fear of Legendary Pokémon within her. Despite this fear, she follows Alain during the Primal Groudon and Kyogre conflict, rescuing him with Steven's Metagross after he loses consciousness. Alain subsequently abandons her at the Devon Corporation citing safety, but Steven helps her return to Kalos.
At Lysandre Labs in Kalos, she reunites with Alain, who rejects her companionship again. Distraught, she isolates herself, leading Chespie to wander into a restricted area. Chespie rescues a Zygarde Core from an experiment but collapses into a coma after exposure to mysterious green energy. Devastated, she tearfully implores Lysandre to cure Chespie. She remains at Lysandre Labs during Chespie's treatment, pausing her journey indefinitely. Later, she appears in Lumiose City, briefly interacting with Ash and his friends to return Clemont's lost Chespin. She confides in them about Chespie's condition but expresses hope for recovery.
During the Kalos League finals, she supports Alain from the stands alongside Lysandre, expressing joy at his victory. Lysandre's subsequent disappearance and declaration of global destruction cause her to question his motives. When confronted by Team Flare grunts, Professor Sycamore rescues her. She then joins Sycamore and Serena to retrieve Chespie from Lysandre Labs, traveling via a hijacked Team Rocket helicopter. During the flight, she commends Serena's battling skills as they fend off attacks. After Chespie is absorbed by the revived megalith during Team Flare's assault, Ash and Alain rescue it. Chespie awakens following Lysandre's defeat, prompting her to cry tears of relief and happiness.
