Description
Kashima Ouka is a character from the Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? series, serving as a member and the captain of the Takemikazuchi Familia. A young human male, he stands at 190 centimeters tall and is a Level 2 adventurer. Ouka possesses a tall, lightly tanned, and muscular build, with black hair and gray eyes. His typical attire consists of a lavender, red, gold, and black kamishimo top worn over brown pants, which are secured by long white bandages, as well as black boots and lower arm guards. In combat, he wields a double-ended spear and a custom-made battleax named Kougou, which was forged by Welf Crozzo from high-quality Valmarth ore.

As the leader of his familia, Ouka is generally a serious person who speaks in a calm and firm manner. He is strong, respected, and capable of making difficult decisions in desperate situations while instructing his companions during dungeon expeditions. He deeply cares for the other members of his familia, with whom he grew up as a family of orphans. However, his serious demeanor contrasts sharply with a lecherous and perverted streak; he agrees with the sentiment that peeping on women is a man s romance and has expressed a particular liking for slender figures such as Tiona Hiryute. He remains completely oblivious to the unspoken romantic feelings that his fellow familia member, Chigusa Hitachi, has for him. Ouka is headstrong and unafraid to voice his thoughts, but also possesses a strong sense of honor and integrity, which drives him to risk his life to atone for his past actions.

Ouka s background is rooted in tragedy; he is the sole survivor of a Far Eastern village that was destroyed by bandits. He was rescued by the god Takemikazuchi and became the first child to be raised at the god s mountain shrine. He was later joined there by other orphaned children, including Mikoto Yamato and Chigusa, forming a close-knit family. During this time, he formed a rebellious bond with Sanjouno Haruhime, sneaking her out of her family s mansion at night to play, despite the risk of punishment. Two years before the main events of the series, he led his familia to the city of Orario to earn money to support their shrine.

In the story, his role is primarily defined by his leadership of the Takemikazuchi Familia and his interactions with the protagonist Bell Cranel s group. Ouka initially had a poor relationship with Welf Crozzo, whom he found antagonistic, but the two eventually developed an unlikely camaraderie born from their shared mischievous and perverted interests, as well as a mutual favorite food. His most notable conflict with Bell s party arose when he performed a pass parade, a tactic where a group leads aggressive monsters toward another party to save themselves, which endangered Bell, Welf, and Liliruca Arde. While Ouka felt his decision was correct as a leader, he ultimately bowed deeply to apologize for his actions. He later made amends in a dramatic fashion by stepping forward to shield Bell from the Black Goliath, a powerful irregular monster, in a self-sacrificial act driven by his refusal to be a man who is all talk.

Throughout the series, Ouka demonstrates notable development in balancing his headstrong impulses with the welfare of his familia, navigating the challenges of leadership while learning humility and the value of trusting other adventurers. In terms of abilities, he is a skilled martial artist who has been trained by Takemikazuchi, the god of combat, mastering multiple fighting styles and techniques. He excels in the use of various weapons, though he typically chooses to fight as a vanguard with his battleax Kougou, which is a second-class weapon powerful enough for him to kill monsters normally requiring a Level 3 adventurer. He also employs shields to protect others and is adept at coordinating and fighting efficiently as a member of a team.
