Description
Momiji Soma, a member of the cursed Sohma family bound to the Rabbit of the Chinese Zodiac, bears a dual heritage—his Japanese father and German mother gifting him striking blond hair and warm brown eyes. The curse triggers a transformation into a rabbit if embraced by a non-cursed member of the opposite sex or under physical strain. Though only a year younger than Tohru Honda, his petite stature and youthful demeanor initially lead others to mistake him for a child.

Rejected at birth by his mother after she witnessed his curse’s effects, her subsequent memory erasure erased all knowledge of him, leaving his younger sister, Momo, oblivious to their sibling bond. Residing alone on the Sohma estate under servant supervision, he masks his fractured family ties behind a buoyant, affectionate persona. His playful disregard for boundaries manifests in frequent hugs, particularly toward Tohru, whose acceptance of his curse deepens their bond.

As he matures, his physique shifts dramatically from childlike to tall and masculine, prompting a switch to the boys’ school uniform while he continues adorning himself with whimsical accessories. Defiance against the Sohma family head, Akito, reveals his growing emotional resolve—shielding Tohru from danger despite fearing punishment. When his curse unexpectedly breaks, he openly challenges Akito’s authority, vowing to carve his own path beyond the family’s control.

Later, he establishes himself as a shrewd businessman, marries, and fathers two children: a daughter named Mina and a younger sibling. His relationship with Momo remains strained, her curiosity about him unwittingly echoing their hidden kinship. His mother’s choice to forget him shapes his philosophy: he rejects memory erasure, valuing even painful recollections as integral to identity.

His story traces the interplay of lighthearted mischief and quiet introspection, charting his evolution from a boy constrained by legacy to a man determined to nurture authentic connections, free from the Sohma clan’s shadows.
