Lupita Leal
Description
Lupita Leal is a Mexican voice actress known for her extensive work in Latin American Spanish dubs of anime, animated series, and live-action productions. Born Guadalupe Leal Rodríguez on August 17, 1989, in Mexico City, she began her career in voice acting at the age of five, encouraged by her uncle, Carlos Íñigo. She comes from a family with a strong tradition in dubbing, as she is the younger sister of fellow voice actors Alfredo Leal and Miguel Ángel Leal.
Leal's body of work in anime is vast and includes a wide array of prominent characters. In the fantasy series The Seven Deadly Sins, she voices the deuteragonist Elizabeth Liones, a role she has reprised for several films including Prisoners of the Sky and Cursed by Light. She is also recognized for her portrayal of the shy Ichika Nakano in The Quintessential Quintuplets and its subsequent film. In the long-running Dragon Ball franchise, she lends her voice to the Saiyan Kale and her fusion form, Kefla, in Dragon Ball Super. Another early and significant role is that of Takeru "T.K." Takaishi and the digital monster Piyomon in the Digimon Adventure series and its related films, including Last Evolution Kizuna.
Her versatility extends to other well-known anime series. Leal is the voice of Emilia in Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World-, Shino Asada/Sinon in Sword Art Online II, and Momiji Soma in the 2019 adaptation of Fruits Basket. She has taken on roles in a variety of genres, such as the cheerful Ebisu in the dark fantasy Dorohedoro, the magical girl Sakura Nanamine in Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun, and Shiki Misaki in The World Ends with You the Animation. Her film work also includes voicing Usagi in the Netflix film Bubble and the character Chico in The Boy and the Beast. She has also been involved in popular franchises like Pokémon, where she voiced the rival Bianca in the Black and White series, and Inuyasha, as the silent Kanna.
Beyond anime, Leal is the regular Latin Spanish voice for actresses Miranda Cosgrove and Selena Gomez. This includes her well-known roles as Carly Shay in iCarly and Alex Russo in Wizards of Waverly Place. She is also the voice of Leni Loud in The Loud House and has played characters in live-action series such as Ygritte in Game of Thrones. In addition to her acting work, Leal is a licensed psychologist. Her long-standing career, beginning in childhood and continuing into the present, has established her as a prominent and respected figure in the Mexican dubbing industry.
