Description
Maya, a descendant of the Fuma ninja clan and sister to Asuka Kagurazaka, is heir to the Fuma lineage. She deliberately conceals Asuka's existence to safeguard her sister's peace, a secrecy that binds her into an unwilling alliance with the antagonist Morgana. Morgana enforces Maya's cooperation through coercion and violence. He exploits Maya for her blood, requiring regular transfusions to sustain his life, and subjects her to torturous electrical currents to extract her vocal patterns, a process that causes her clothing to disintegrate. These stolen vocal patterns become essential for Morgana to activate the ancient wind-based Fujin artifact, a clay idol capable of generating black holes.

Despite operating under Morgana's control throughout the pursuit of Fujin, Maya possesses considerable combat skill, demonstrated in confrontations wielding her Kagetora sword—an oddly shaped "Houtou" or Treasure Sword, possibly originally decorative. Her initial adversarial encounters with Goemon Ishikawa XIII evolve into mutual respect, with Goemon developing a protective interest in her. Ultimately, Maya aligns with her sister and allies to prevent Fujin's catastrophic misuse. In the climax, she and Asuka request Goemon to destroy the artifact with his Zantetsuken sword, eliminating the threat.

Maya exhibits a complex moral alignment, balancing self-preservation under duress with a deeper loyalty to her sister and clan heritage. Her physical appearance includes black hair and eyes, consistent with her Japanese heritage. Enduring significant physical and psychological manipulation, she retains critical agency, prioritizing the prevention of global disaster over her own safety.
