Description
Tōru Takase captains Shiro High’s boys’ rhythmic gymnastics team in his third year, rooted in Aomori Prefecture’s familial contrasts—his father harvests tuna while his grandfather tends a multi-generational apple orchard. This duality lingers as unresolved tension, though its connection to his athletics remains undefined.

His physique commands attention: broad-shouldered build, angular features, and piercing upturned eyes intensify an intimidating presence. Crimson-tinted cropped hair and a habitually furrowed brow compound this effect. He sports a zipped purple-and-white tracksuit during official team functions, swapping it for a gray practice shirt adorned with a stark white “b” during training.

Takase balances gymnastic discipline with juvenile rivalry, most notably against Ao High’s captain Masamune Shichigahama, whom he taunts as “Gorilla.” Their feud ignited when Shichigahama mocked apples—a slight against Takase’s agricultural heritage—yet he privately acknowledges Ao High’s competitive merit, masking respect beneath antagonism.

As a leader, he enforces rigorous training regimes while strategically provoking rivals, particularly Shichigahama, blending authority with mischief. These interactions imply an unspoken recognition of shared athletic passion, though narrative sources leave this dynamic’s nuances unexamined.
