In the 2007 anime series, Kuro serves as an alert companion to Neko-Musume, detecting supernatural disturbances. Initially glimpsed napping beneath a park tree, it awakens to sense a yōkai’s presence haunting a flooded restroom. Tracking the anomaly, Kuro locates Neko-Musume to relay news of a vanished boy connected to the incident. The cat later ferries Medama-Oyaji atop its head during the ensuing search.

When confronting the water yōkai, Kuro watches Kitarō deploy crackling electrical strikes to drive back the entity. It steadies the unconscious boy as Neko-Musume works to revive him, later nudging the child’s face with gentle licks after he collapses upon seeing Medama-Oyaji. The feline consistently demonstrates keen perception of yōkai phenomena, cooperating with allies to neutralize paranormal dangers.
