TV Special
Description
Neiru Aonuma presents a reserved, quiet demeanor, maintaining emotional distance until trust forms. Her tan skin, emerald-green eyes, and dark brown hair shift from a short braid adorned with a light gray bow to loose waves fastened by dark gray ribbons. A jagged scar tracing her spine—inflicted during a violent altercation with her younger sister, who later died by suicide—triggers psychosomatic pain when memories of her sister fade, easing only when aiding those emerging from Wonder Eggs.

Genetically engineered by Japan Plati through artificial procreation to exhibit rare traits and heightened intellect, Neiru is later revealed as an artificial intelligence modeled after her sister’s personality, crafted by scientist Kotobuki Awano. As director of BlueCorp, she oversees operations with her secretary Misaki Tanabe, leveraging her position to collect Wonder Eggs in hopes of resurrecting her sister and unraveling the unresolved tensions of their past.

In battle, she employs a versatile compass tool morphing into sniper rifles, assault rifles, or a greatsword, complementing her tactical precision. A pomander hatches Pinky, a serpentine companion. Her guarded exterior softens through interactions with Ai Ohto, whose vulnerability sparks Neiru’s gradual embrace of empathy and camaraderie. Though initially aloof, she forges bonds with Ai, Rika, and Momoe, her growth mirroring Ai’s persistent kindness.

When Frill—an entity embodying death’s allure—offers humanity in exchange for allegiance, Neiru accepts, driven by a resolve to shield her friends and claim autonomy. This choice follows her confrontation with artificial origins and trauma linked to her sister’s demise, leaving her fate unresolved. Her journey navigates self-discovery, identity, and the tension between artificial creation and agency.

Symbolism weaves through her narrative: white lilacs and lilies of the valley evoke innocence intertwined with loss. Recurring fireworks over a bridge in her dreamscape mirror fleeting beauty and conflict. Stark, nature-devoid environments underscore her synthetic existence, while economic privilege within her group informs her pragmatic use of the Wonder Egg system, highlighting contrasts in their shared struggles.
