Beta is a Living Ignition Weapon forged by Workshop researcher Sophia Amae through brutal experiments. She fused abandoned Tower children with artificial "devils," making Beta a "brother" to fellow subjects Kang Horyang and Beniamino Cassano. Enduring countless procedures, Beta became one of only five survivors. Researchers forced them to fight to the death, promising freedom to the winner. Beta emerged victorious, but the promise was a lie; his body became dependent on Workshop drugs, trapping him in servitude.
He appears as a short boy with pale skin and spiky blonde hair. His eyes are usually yellow, though his left eye sometimes shifts to pitch black with a red iris; bright blue veins can occasionally show through. He initially concealed his upper face with bandages and wore a blue hoodie. After escaping the Workshop, his attire included a red cap with a crudely drawn face or a sharp blue suit. Later, he wore simpler clothing like a black t-shirt, brown shorts, and a striped cap.
Trauma initially shaped his personality into profound loneliness, suspicion, and malice. He harbored deep resentment and a thirst for vengeance, acting with superiority and manipulating others, especially targeting Jyu Viole Grace (Bam) and his companions. He displayed vindictiveness and instability, driven by a desire to inflict despair. Learning during the Workshop Battle that Emile manipulated him and Viole was innocent caused his demeanor to calm significantly. He became more sociable, developing child-like confidence reminiscent of Khun Ran, though underlying intensity remained.
As a Living Ignition Weapon, Beta possesses significant combat power, matching or exceeding many E-rank Regulars. He demonstrates exceptional speed surpassing Bam's initial reactions and known fast Regulars like Vespa, and strength sufficient to repel attacks from figures like Rak Wraithraiser. He shows high intelligence, predicting strategies of opponents like Khun Aguero Agnis. His primary weapons are his Ignition abilities: Partial Ignition: Dionysos unlocks wings and arms, manifesting large limbs, while Partial Ignition: Phobos generates a giant demonic form with three apertures firing multiple Shinsu baangs (up to fifteen simultaneously). These powers mark him as one of the most potent Living Ignition Weapons encountered.
Beta features prominently during the Workshop Battle on the 30th Floor. He encounters Viole, reveals the Thorn inside him is fake, and provides clues to the real Thorn's location. Seeking vengeance, he traps Viole and attempts to kill his friends, critically wounding Wangnan Ja. He battles Rak Wraithraiser, Yeon Yihwa, and Laure before confronting Viole. Sophia Amae intervenes, revealing Viole's innocence regarding Beta's creation. Realizing Emile used him, Beta collapses and suffers an emotional breakdown. After Sophia tends his injuries, he joins Team Novick at Khun Ran's request to pursue Cassano, who stole Horyang's devil half, putting Horyang in a coma. Beta resides within Khun Aguero Agnis's Lighthouse during this period.
His journey continues on the Hell Train. Seeking Cassano, Beta participates in tests like Revolution Road. In Train City, he helps navigate a Workshop disciple's maze and battles the guardian Mirotic alongside allies like Ran and Team Tangsooyook, exploiting a revealed weakness to defeat it. He later uses his flight ability to reach platforms, witnessing Viole and the Thorn go berserk. He remains largely inactive later, staying within Khun's Lighthouse (powered up as an Enna Core). He reappears briefly during the Last Station arc before exiting the narrative.
Beta's relationships are complex. He views Sophia Amae as a creator yet resents her for the despair his existence embodies. He initially dismisses Horyang and Cassano as inferior "halfies" due to their incomplete status, but later acknowledges Cassano's increased strength after Cassano becomes "complete" by taking Horyang's devil half. His interactions with Team Sweet and Sour (particularly Wangnan) and later Team Novick show pragmatism and gradual, limited integration driven by shared goals like capturing Cassano.
