Description
Takuma Sakamoto, a socially isolated Japanese individual, escaped reality by immersing himself in the MMORPG Cross Reverie as his player character, @Diablo-13. This avatar, feared as the "True Demon Lord," achieved the maximum level of 150 as a Sorcerer specializing in annihilation, mastering all elemental magics and possessing the Combiner subclass. Sakamoto meticulously optimized stats and equipment, becoming one of the game's top players. His intense jealousy toward real-life couples encountered in-game manifested as ruthless annihilation, serving as emotional release, contrasting his typical restraint against others.
Simultaneously summoned to another world by Pantherian Rem Galleu and elf Shera L. Greenwood, Sakamoto physically embodied Diablo. The enslavement magic cast by both girls rebounded due to his "Demon King's Ring," reflecting all spells and magically collaring Rem and Shera as his slaves instead. Confronted by this reality and his preexisting social anxiety, Sakamoto consciously adopted Diablo's arrogant, domineering Demon Lord persona to mask his insecurities during interactions.
Diablo's appearance features white hair, sharp black eyes, and dark skin resembling bluish-black birthmark tattoos across his face, accentuated by two prominent horns caused by "The Distorted Crown." His standard equipment included the defensive armor "The Ebony Abyss," the status-preventing mantle "The Curtain of Dark Clouds" (later destroyed and replaced by the fear-inducing "Call of Darkness"), and potent staves like "The Staff of Tenma" (lost) and "Tonnerre Empereur" (destroyed). He later acquired "The Staff of Annihilation" and rings such as "Insanity Ring" and "Ruination Ring" after defeating powerful entities.
Transferred gaming expertise granted Diablo high-level elemental spells like "Explosion" (fire), "Stardust" (water), and "Bit Arrow" (light), alongside utility magic such as "Return" for teleportation and "Omit" for instantaneous, incantation-less spellcasting. Non-combat skills include "Underwater Movement" and potion crafting, performed through autopilot artistry while distracted, like focusing on Shera's physique. His combat style combines overwhelming magical power with tactical analysis, exploiting enemy weaknesses identified via abilities like aura vision.
Beneath the projected arrogance, genuine personality traits emerge, particularly strong protective instincts toward companions. Key Berserk Buttons include threats to those he cares about and witnessing romantic advances toward Rem or Shera, triggering ruthless retaliation. Childhood trauma from betrayal by false friends who exploited his gaming skills fuels his social withdrawal.
Character development unfolds through relationships: He marries both Rem and Shera after resolving their personal quests, demonstrating deep loyalty and occasional possessiveness. Rem's serious demeanor provides grounding, while Shera's lightheartedness helps lower his emotional barriers. Bonds extend to the revived Demon Lord Krebskulm (Klem), with whom he forms a mutual pact; high priestess Lumachina Weselia, aided in church reformation; his automaton maid Rose, desiring his affection; the reformed Imperial Knight Alicia Crystella, sworn to his service; and aspiring adventurer Horn, who views him as family.
Progression involves confronting his past trauma, leveling beyond initial game limits via training and consuming Gold Fruit, and adapting game knowledge to real-world scenarios. Critical moments include sacrificing legendary equipment to save Horn from hypothermia, temporarily divorcing Rem after a non-consensual encounter with her aunt, and navigating political conflicts like the Gelmudo Empire's atrocities. His journey balances maintaining the fabricated Demon Lord identity with authentic growth in leadership and emotional connections.
