Description
Ikoma Kitsuno, a historical concubine of Oda Nobunaga, originated as the eldest daughter of Owari Province clan leader Ikoma Iemune. After her husband Yaheiji perished in battle, she returned to her family home and encountered Nobunaga. She bore him three consecutive children beginning in 1557: heir Nobutada, second son Nobukatsu, and eldest daughter Tokuhime. Her death in 1566 resulted from childbirth complications, though her birth year remains contested between 1528 and 1538.
Anime depictions feature her with blonde ponytailed hair, orange eyes, a distinctive mole, and traditional attire like kimono and haori. The series adapts legends of Nobunaga deeply cherishing her, including their meeting during his intelligence visits to the Ikoma mansion where he became captivated. One account describes him relocating her to Komakiyama Castle for her declining health and personally overseeing her care. Her death reportedly caused him profound grief, manifesting as days of weeping or observing her cremation smoke from a castle turret.
Unverified anecdotes, such as her facilitating Hashiba Hideyoshi’s introduction to Nobunaga at the mansion, amplify her reputation as his favored consort despite lacking historical substantiation.
In "Nobunaga Teacher’s Young Bride," an alternate portrayal depicts her as a reincarnated spirit retaining memories until 1566. This version possesses supernatural abilities like perceiving ancestral spirits, exhibits possessiveness toward Nobunaga, and maintains cooperative ties with figures such as Saitō Kichō.
Her narrative development across seasons or films within "Kochoki: Young Nobunaga" is not detailed.
