Description
Kimura, a middle school classmate of Nishikata and Takagi, sports a chubby build, buzzed dark brown hair, and small brown eyes. His stout frame and reluctance toward physical exertion often draw attention during gym classes, where he labors through running drills or swims with visible effort. Prone to procrastination and sneaking classroom snacks between early lunches, his lack of restraint around food contrasts with an otherwise kind, loyal nature. He actively aids Nishikata in navigating interactions with Takagi, even braving summer festival crowds to reunite the pair when separated.

Kimura’s closest companion, Takao, shares his disdain for strenuous activities, bonding over complaints about gym routines and leisurely pastimes like fishing trips, waterpark visits, and festival outings. Despite his casual demeanor, Kimura tactfully avoids intruding on Nishikata and Takagi’s solo moments, respecting their privacy.

Reassigned to a different class in his second year, Kimura’s anxiety surfaces during seat changes, his distress over awkward desk placements hinting at underlying sensitivity. While often comic relief—boasting about devouring stacks of New Year’s mochi or grumbling about workouts—he occasionally reveals emotional insight, nudging Nishikata to bridge gaps with Takagi.

A library committee member with a surname blending “tree” and “village,” Kimura remains a steady, humorous presence across media. Spin-offs featuring adult counterparts of core characters retain his peripheral role, emphasizing snack-fueled antics and quiet support for friends without expanding his established traits.
