Description
Elaine is a young girl subjected to illegal experiments by a scientist posing as her father, who murdered her biological parents. She possesses immense psychic abilities but exhibits significant disabilities: she is mute and possesses an animal-like, underdeveloped mind, contrasting with her sister Diana's physical paralysis but intellectual capacity; her condition involves having the "nervous system of an animal."
Confined and manipulated by the Kuryu Group, a corporation developing biological weapons, Elaine escapes the laboratory. She forms a brief bond with a homeless boy named Rat, which ends when Kuryu operatives kill him. This triggers Elaine's first transformation into Genocyber—a fusion with her sister Diana's cybernetic body after Diana's physical form is destroyed. This merger combines Elaine's psychic power with Diana's consciousness, with Elaine becoming the dominant controlling force of the entity.
Following Genocyber's destruction of Hong Kong, Elaine resurfaces with a largely cybernetic body from the neck down. Found adrift near Karain, she is rescued by the supercarrier Alexandria's crew. Doctor Myra, projecting memories of her deceased daughter onto Elaine, renames her "Laura." Elaine passively induces hallucinations and mental breakdowns among the crew through her psychic presence. She later transforms into Genocyber to destroy a bio-weapon called the Vajranoid, severing one of Genocyber's arms in the process. A scientist uses this arm to create a new Vajranoid that consumes the carrier's crew, though Genocyber spares Myra. Karain is subsequently devastated by Genocyber, mirroring Hong Kong's fate.
Approximately a century later, Elaine exists dormant alongside Diana within a dream-like dimension, having concluded their power has "no place in this world." Psychic resonance with Mel, a blind woman in the post-apocalyptic City of the Grand Ark, reawakens them. After city authorities kill Mel and her allies, Elaine, Diana, and Mel fuse into a red-hued Genocyber entity. This incarnation annihilates the city but resurrects Mel and spares her partner Ryu. Final scenes imply Elaine and Diana may have been reborn as a single infant, though their consciousnesses persist within Genocyber as it departs for space.
Elaine's psychic abilities include telekinesis (deflecting aircraft, creating shields), telepathy, illusion induction (causing hallucinations and self-harm), pyrokinesis, explosive energy projection, regeneration, flight, and weather manipulation. Her power escalates significantly as Genocyber, enabling city-destroying explosions and continental-scale devastation. Despite her childlike mind, she demonstrates tactical combat awareness. Her instability often leads to disproportionate collateral damage, such as unintentionally causing mass casualties during emotional outbursts.
