TV-Series
Description
Princess Leona, heir to the Papnica Kingdom, assumed leadership after her father vanished and was presumed dead during an assault by the Dark Lord's forces. Her rigorous early training as a sage culminated in a ritual on Dermline Island. During this ritual, she encountered Dai and his companions, initially underestimating Dai due to his youth. After Dai saved her from an assassination attempt orchestrated by her treacherous advisors, she developed mutual respect and trust with him, gifting him a royal dagger as a token.

Leona exhibits a complex personality, often described as tomboyish, blunt, and sharp-tongued, speaking her mind without reservation. Despite her royal status, she rejects stereotypical princess behavior, displaying a strong sense of justice symbolized by her white soul color. Highly perceptive, she judges individuals based on actions rather than status, and demonstrates significant courage, refusing to yield even facing mortal threats. Her leadership commands loyalty from subjects and other nations, extending beyond diplomacy as she organizes summits to unite kingdoms against the Dark Army.

Her journey intertwined with Dai's party after the Undead Legion destroyed Papnica. She played a pivotal role in redeeming Hyunckel, sparing him punishment and sentencing him to uphold Avan's teachings as a force for good. Leona later joined the party permanently after being rescued from Flazzard's near-fatal ice curse. As a combatant, she specializes in support and healing magic, notably mastering the Fullheal spell which restores full health and stamina, making her the party's primary healer. While proficient in offensive spells like Crack and Snooze, her abilities lean more toward utility than direct confrontation.

Leona evolved from a headstrong princess into a strategic leader. She accompanied Dai and Popp to Bengarna, selling her royal garments to fund equipment and adopting practical wayfarer attire. During critical battles, such as Baran's assault on Teran, she provided crucial healing support to allies like Crocodine, demonstrating resilience despite severe injuries. Her diplomatic acumen shone when she orchestrated a global summit to coordinate resistance against the Dark King Vearn, insisting on collective action over solo missions. Her bond with Dai deepened, subtly hinting at mutual affection, though she remained focused on her duties as ruler and party member.

In later arcs, Leona officially became the fifth Disciple of Avan after inheriting the insignia from Queen Flora of Carl. She balanced aiding the invasion of the Dark Army's stronghold with managing Papnica's reconstruction. Her character arc concluded with unwavering commitment to justice and leadership, cementing her role as a cornerstone against darkness.

Beyond the main storyline, Leona appears in spin-off media like "Dragon Quest of the Stars" and "A Hero's Bonds," depicted as a priest or sage utilizing support spells and wearing variant outfits from the series, reinforcing her established traits.
