Description
Mutsu Amatani is one of four high school girls stranded on a remote island after a plane crash. She possesses reddish-purple short hair, light blue eyes, and wears distinctive red glasses. Her school uniform consists of a white long-sleeved shirt, a red bow tie, a navy blue short skirt, and black half-legged stockings. Standing 154 centimeters tall, she has a thin build and an A-cup bust size.

Academically gifted, Mutsu consistently ranked first in her school year and maintained perfect attendance. Her hobbies include reading novels, particularly boys' love (BL) manga and light novels, and cooking. She aspires to become a BL light novel writer. Mutsu also holds extensive knowledge of astronomy, including stars and constellations.

In the survival situation, she applies logical thinking and adaptability, swiftly learning essential skills despite initial physical insecurities. Homare Onishima deems her the group's second-most capable survivor due to her problem-solving skills and careful nature. Mutsu assumes primary responsibility for cooking, using her culinary knowledge to prepare meals from foraged ingredients and managing a small vegetable garden. She meticulously recorded their experiences in a diary, later published as a memoir after rescue.

Her personality blends seriousness and diligence with occasional impatience, particularly toward Shion Kujo's complaints and Asuka Suzumori's lack of discipline. Mutsu deeply admires Homare, viewing her as a mentor in survival techniques and valuing her praise highly. She constantly worries about the group's well-being and works diligently to contribute, though privately acknowledging survival without Homare would be unlikely for herself, Shion, and Asuka.

She exhibits thalassophobia, experiencing panic and difficulty in deep water, such as swimming. Throughout the ordeal, she faced challenging and embarrassing moments, including receiving mouth-to-mouth resuscitation that resulted in her first kiss tasting like a grasshopper and suffering insect bites in sensitive areas. Despite her reserved nature, the demands of island life gradually pushed her toward greater practicality and openness.

Following rescue and return to Tokyo, her documented account was purchased by a publishing house and developed into a best-selling memoir.
