Description
Hisui is the only son of Miroku and Sango, born roughly fourteen years after the original Inuyasha saga concluded. His birth took place while Miroku and Inuyasha were away on a yōkai extermination, with Kaede and Rin assisting Sango through the delivery. Even as a newborn and infant, Hisui displayed an unusual sensitivity to supernatural threats, crying out when the demon Yotsume was near, though the adults remained unaware of its presence. Early childhood glimpses show him often carried on Sango's back during household tasks and interacting with his older twin sisters, Kin'u and Gyokuto. At age four, he witnessed the birth of Sesshōmaru and Rin's twin daughters during a lunar eclipse.

Trained later by his uncle Kohaku, Hisui became a yōkai taijiya (demon slayer). He eventually inherited his mother's signature weapon, the massive bone boomerang Hiraikotsu, wielding it effectively required considerable strength. His combat skills developed to include coordination with fellow slayers and proficiency with a demon-bone wakizashi. Professionally, he undertook missions to eliminate demons threatening villages, such as confronting the demon Mistress Three-Eyes alongside Kohaku and Setsuna. During one assignment, he rescued Princess Aiya from a demon attack, inadvertently sparking her romantic affection, though he remained oblivious to her advances.

Personality-wise, Hisui exhibits a serious, determined demeanor, distinct from his father's earlier lecherous tendencies, likely shaped by Sango's upbringing. He initially harbored negative views toward Miroku due to the monk's 1,000-day training absence, perceiving it as abandonment. This strained relationship improved after Hisui witnessed Miroku's bravery battling the demon Tōtetsu. He maintains a respectful bond with Kohaku as his mentor, but has a more contentious dynamic with his sisters, who relentlessly tease him—particularly when Kin'u manipulated him into impersonating her for a nun's etiquette lesson.

A significant emotional development is his unrequited love for Setsuna, revealed in Episode 48. This affection motivates his consistent support during their missions, though Setsuna remains largely indifferent to his feelings. Hisui wears prayer beads on his left wrist, visually referencing the rosary that once sealed Miroku's Wind Tunnel, though their spiritual function remains unclear. His name, meaning "jade," follows the family tradition of naming children after precious materials, like Sango (coral) and Kohaku (amber).
