Description
Momoko Asuka, a Japanese returnee, moved back to Japan after years in New York due to her parents' work. Born in Japan but raised abroad from a young age, she forgot most Japanese, initially appearing reserved, shy, and withdrawn while struggling to communicate without magic. Her classmate Doremi facilitated her adjustment through friendship, aiding her gradual reintegration.

Physically, Momoko towers over her peers with fair skin and long chartreuse hair looped at the base of her head, accented by lavender sections. Her bangs are swept aside by a cyan clip, framing pupil-less lime-green eyes with an extra shine. She wears a distinctive earring in her left ear—a gift from her former mentor Majomonroe—which she refuses to remove despite school rules. Her signature outfit includes a cropped orange shirt, a white skirt with a yellow corner split, yellow suspenders fastened by cyan buttons, black socks, and white sneakers with yellow laces.

Momoko's personality shifts from isolation to vibrancy after bonding with peers, revealing a bright, energetic, and passionate nature. Intellectually curious, she enjoys studying and learning but displays eccentricity and emotional intensity. Extreme excitement or distress triggers English outbursts, making her difficult to calm. She prioritizes peace, free will, and conflict mediation, though her bluntness initially offends Hazuki and Onpu; she later reconciles through earnest efforts.

Her witch apprenticeship began in New York upon meeting Majomonroe, who taught her English and welcomed her into a bakery. Their bond deepened after Momoko accidentally witnessed Majomonroe's transformation into a frog upon returning from the Witch World. Guilt-driven, Momoko trained rigorously to reverse the curse, but Majomonroe died shortly after Momoko obtained her witch crystal ball. Grief led Momoko to attempt forbidden resurrection magic, shattering her crystal and losing her powers. The Witch Queen later restored her apprenticeship, assigning her to Japan's Maho-do bakery. Her fairy partner is Nini, her crystal ball a chartreuse three-leaf clover, and her spells include the transformation phrase "Pretty Witch Momoko-cchi!" and the incantation "Perutan Petton Pararira Pon!".

Relationships shape her growth: She bonds tightly with Doremi over shared energy and classroom proximity, shares a secret hideout and mutual support with Hazuki, and receives social guidance from Aiko (who occasionally finds her antics irritating). Initial friction with Onpu evolves into trusted confidantship. Though initially inept with babies—accidentally sickening Hana—she becomes deeply protective of her. She admires Pop's maturity and supports Kotaro Okajima's kendo pursuits. Majomonroe remains her paramount influence, inspiring her dream to reopen Majomonroe's New York bakery.

In the light novel *Ojamajo Doremi 16*, Momoko resurfaces as a high school student training as a patisserie chef. She temporarily rejoins the group to support Onpu, exhibiting calmer composure while retaining core enthusiasm. Her baking dedication honors her promise to Majomonroe, and she engages in new experiences like Hana's cheerleading club.
