She later attended an American school in Japan and, during her junior high school years, moved with her family to Austria, where she studied at an international school in Salzburg. This international upbringing made her a multilingual speaker fluent in Japanese, English, and German. She officially debuted as a voice actress in 1997.
A defining characteristic of Miyahara's voice acting career is her frequent casting in roles that require the use of foreign languages, a direct result of her linguistic abilities. She has a long-standing association with Toei Animation, appearing in numerous productions from the studio, and has also frequently collaborated with director Yashuhiro Yamauchi.

Beyond voice acting, Miyahara is also an active singer and lyricist. She began her musical career around the same time as her voice acting debut and has used her English proficiency to write her own lyrics. She released her first independent extended play, titled Reason, in 2003 under the Dream Records label. Her musical work extends to providing vocals for the electronic music project Genki Rockets, contributing to the image of the fictional space girl character Lumi.
